They may have been max sessions, but I bet they weren't to failure (and by this I don't mean you fail a max lift, rather to (almost complete) temporary muscular fatigue ). Which is more stressful and taxing - one set to complete muscular failure on say 80% with maybe 5 or 6 reps or 5 or 6 singles on between 90% and 100%? The total load and intensity are certainly higher for the singles.

Old Ivan reckons he didnt like his lifters taking (their) max weights in comps. Now, as many top Bulgars were world record holders anyway you can only imagine that their max training sessions were done in excess of these WR's. Whether they ever had many failures or not I dont know.

I'll just leave it there. Multiple high intensity singles are certainly taxing, but I think one can do them more often than multiple sets of a lower intensity. FIN

nothing to hide, please follow my life on webcam Member 255, 3732 posts | It has also been suggested Abadjiev used it as a method of controlling the excesses of the lifters - most weightlifters, given the opportunity, will go out and get pissed up every night whilst trying to shag anything in sight. By having them do multiple sessions a day they simply didn't have any spare energy.

pink french superstar beard Member 26, 4030 posts SQ 190, BP 0, DL 205395.0 kgs @ 75kgs UnEq | There's a vid somewhere on here where you see Abadjiev giving a party for his youngsters so they can 'enjoy themselves'. He also brought these young women to watch his lifters training. "These young women are beautiful, show them what you can do!" Natural Test Boost! I've got this ironmind dvd, "wish you were there, unbelievable Bulgarians". There you can watch a lot of stunning stuff. Vannev, 77k, tried a 210k c&j like 4 or 5 times in a row!

It's what Marlow was designed for after Saturday's training at squads - get pissed, try and pull something. Far more beneficial than all that training during the day.
