I think suffice to say it's not the best cuts. Probably borderline being able to be actually called meat. I am also pretty sure that if there was a demand for horse meat we wouldn't be eating highly trained prize stallions! More like hobbled ponies

It probably is gristle and offcuts, so perfect for a stew/casserole! danbaseley said: That website is awesome. Some of the packs are really good value. I got a massive amount for £20! garyh1982 said:here you go heres a link with horse meat http://www.keziefoods.co.uk/Catalogue/Exotic-Meats/Horse-Meat[... That website is pretty overpriced, beef would be cheaper. Herman - Morrisons has sirloin for £7.50 a kilo at the moment. Billingsgate market is CRACKING value for money - lobsters are £6 each, 4 big crabs for about a tenner. Look for deals on websites, I often look at Morrisons website before going out - £2 a kilo for whole chickens the other day. Doesn't take too long to learn how to cut it into portions. I might even make a video one day showing people how to.

hermit Member 3904, 988 posts | Chicken is cheap as can be in my local halal butchers, so cheap it scares me sometimes. I often opt to buy free range ones from aldi instead. In terms of the horse thing, really dont want to spend more than beef costs. I like the idea of something different but would like it to cost either the same or cheaper. I already have a local beef supplier which is top notch, they actually slaughter the animals onsite and age things properly. I always get some fat trimmings off them for free and make beef dripping. You can also add the gristle/fat to stews, I am not that into it but my sister is mental for it. Prefers chomping on gristle to real meat.

I agree 100% - if a person buys a beef lasagne, it should contain beef. However, most people have a mental block, so wouldn't knowingly buy a horse lasagne.
