fair play, how come you missed the seniors??
Joseph_Walton
Too close to the world juniors, the total length of my buildup will have been 10 weeks. i think i'll do it next year as i don't really think it needs to be this long.
Joseph_Walton
Had a guy come and take some photo's of me for a profile they are putting in the local newspaper. Hopefully i'll have some sponsorship for the worlds, i have a local mechanic possibly interested. Does anyone who owns a business know if sponsorship is 100% tax deductible?
AvatarIcepick
yes it should be deducible if they play it as advertising.
Joseph_Walton
Thanks. Asked quite a few businesses so hopefully i'll get some money Grin

I did the sheringham strongest man today. For a spur of the moment thing it went alright, some shockers but as well as could be hoped for. I"m amazed by how helpful everyone always is in strength sports, in any other sports you're competitors wouldn't do s**t for you.

90kg Log press from shoulders
This was an eliminator as 17 people turned up and they cut the field down to 12, i managed 5 reps with the last one being a tricep extension as i almost lost it backwards. The log was a monster and pressing it wasn't the hard part it was controlling it when it came down, it kept rolling off the chest. middle of the pack here

Arm over arm
pulled more with the arms to keep the tension in the rope as it was fairly light, rhythm was good but was dissapointed to find out i did it in 22 seconds. about 10th place i think

Sword hold
Two 12kg swords pointing down, knew this would be a bad one and amazed by how good everyone was, no one went under a minute and the top few were over 1.30. I was shaking from the off and managed 1.07. 11th place i think

Hour break, just seemed to tire me out.

Deadlift
Felt good about this as i pulled a rep in the break and it was easy. The strap holding the tire to the cage broke on the guy before me and they got a new one and cranked it up so the tire was actually off the end of the cage, making it heavier at lockout. got 18 reps and the 19th was just after the whistle.

Medley
75kg farmers 20 metres, 10 metres with big hunk of wood then 10 with a heavy duck. Technique was a bit of a let down but then this is the second time i've picked up a farmers walk or a duck. Tried to accelerate with the farmers (f**k off cylinders) and nearly tripped, could barely pick the wood up but managed to get it over the line. But i was quick with the duck which everyone else struggled with, 33 seconds and a middlish placing.

Harness pull.
Made a right balls up of this, even with Rich Hudson's advice. The ground was torn up and i couldn't grip with my feet at all, i kept slipping and then my body shot up to compensate. 57 seconds and dead last by a long way.

11th out of 12. Met some awesome guys and i'm going to try and make it up to train with rich hudson and another guy i met there sometimes. They're only 45 mins away and it would be awesome to train with some class strongmen.
Joseph_Walton
Squat ( very old suit which gives barely anything)
70x4
120x3
160x3

240x1 straps up
275 2x2 belt on

Close grip
60x8
80x5
100x5
120 2x4

Squat
Went up to 140 for some circumspect number of reps, back is tired from the strongman and its the heaviest deadlift goes on wednesday.
AvatarFAT_SAM

fatter_tomorrow

Pearce

Not long left til the Juniour Worlds now????

AvatarWayne_Cowdrey
Well done on your comp performance. I did Sheringham's in 2007, and it's one of my favourite comps that I've done.
Joseph_Walton
Thanks Guys, 125 at worlds as no point dehydrating unless i was in with a shot at an overall medal, and theres generally some jockeying around anyway so its not like i can make it worthwhile. I really enjoyed the strongman, i'll win it next time though Happy Last big deadlift session before the worlds.

Forgot to mention, with at least 2 known heavy plates that deadlift is 3.2kg that stated, and i think some of the other plates are heavy aswell so that was basically my hoped for opener of 262.5. Feeling good for a big deadlift at the worlds Grin
