well many ways to look at it.

if you invite british guys without any kind of qualifying process it is a kick in the nuts of guys from all other countries who have to battle through the qualifying comps and their own countries strongest man comps.

if you dont have enough british guys, it hurts viewing figures here (assuming it is one of their main markets).

and without BSM british athletes simply dont have a good chance to get in.

Maybe scotlands strongest man should be invited on that merit alone, and then guys from the englands (westaby is there, sadler isnt though)

you cant judge man v man at every comp as so many variables, some guys will have competed the previous 4 weekends etc etc

the only fair way is to say - this is the qualifier, you need to be top 5 to get a spot, then people will bring their best game... assuming they want to qualify
