I will keep me fat gob shut on that one, dont think i will ever get a white light from Mr H again after the GBPF forum hoo-hah !

The GBPF paid for Stuart Hamilton to go all that way and bench 140 at a World Champs??? Was he injured, or lifting raw or something?

The rest of the British team lifted well with some solid 200+ pressing.
AvatarWayne_Cowdrey
I believe that Stuart only lifts unequipped.
Col_Austin
Strange choice for the team in that case.
Avatarjt
think it is a case of if you have the money to pay for yourself

rather than the best lifter going

I would like to thank jt and joseph walton for their support! I realise that my lifting leaves alot to be desired but I have only been competing for two years and this was always going to be a long term hobby for me.I may only have four divisional records, three british records, gold in the european masters and silver in the world masters but when I finally lift to my full ability I hope there will not still be this negative vibe against me.As a team at the orlando comp I thought we done well and all gelled together with four medals from seven lifters.Hopefully after my next comp you guys might find something more positive to say.I wish you all good and safe lifting for the future whatever your views may be.

james success can also be measured in white lights gained

as a self confessed novice maybe you should try getting 3 goodlifts in each meet

out of curiosity how many comps have you done? how many attempts? how many good lifts? how many bombs? are you american?

what are the 3 british records?

lets face it masters benching is not super competitive if i were you i would take more pride in lifting in the open worlds
jamesjeffries
I don't feel I need to explain anything to you about my lifting and the reasons behind competitions I enter. I take my advice from my coach ian kinghorn and that's all I have to say. I wish you all the best for the future.

Well done JJ two new British record lifts in the EM GBPF meet yesterday. I thought the 229 to reset the record was good but to come out for the third lift and get 240 has probobly locked the record for years. Gold instead of silver at the next worlds?

Great lifting mate.Happy Happy Happy

That's a big improvement over your performance at the World Masters' James. What's made the difference?

Eek

That's a harsh accusation!

Not a big difference really, at the worlds he just narrowly missed the press out with 255kg which would have been the Gold medal, so 240 is a bit of a step down. JJ regularly does 250+ in the gym. Happy Happy Happy

OK, but what's made the difference, more board work, more raw work, different shirt, etc etc?

You should know that if you're a competitive powerlifter, it doesn't matter what you've done in the gym. 'Narrowly missing the press out' = didn't have the strength to press it out.

Rather than a step down, it sounds like these were more realistic attempts for a competition.
Kerridge
At the elite level its usually the little things that make the difference, small changes to body weight, the temperature/sweat, warm up routine and the minor adjustments to the shirt, and of course the support and individual focus. There is no way anyone can get stronger enough to raise their lift by 15kg in two weeks at the elite level, its not training its the set up and the variations in the things mentioned above that make the difference.

Personally I think it was the extreeme humidity in Orlando and jet lag that probobly affected JJ. But, what a result in Orlando...and yesterday. Happy Happy Happy
