And neither can it be used to predict he couldn't pull near to 480.

He took that weight for a reason. Maybe it was because he had a few vodkas after his 402 or maybe because he just thought f**k it. Maybe they missloaded it. Its all speculation.

As has been said not much is known of Bennis training. For all we know he could be ripping 450+ in training on a regular basis or maybe hasn't deadlifted in months.

All we know is he was in a pub in a charity comp, pulling RAW and he failed the weight.

What kind of logic went into this reply? I don't remember ever suggesting I could offer him or anyone any advice. I also believe I made it pretty clear that I think at his level progress will be a lot slower, so saying I think I coul help him to 600kg, however exaggerated that may be is a pretty ridiculous remark too.

When did this become so personal to you that you fealt the need to insult me? All I did was state that he definitely can't deadlift 287.5kg, check the video if you don't believe me. And my opinion is that he can't deadlift close to that either.

But by all means, if my opinion differs from yours carry on, be an asshole about it and be insulting because I've not been powerlifting as long as others. I don't see why you should take it so personally though.

You're right, it doesn't prove ANYTHING except that he couldn't pull 487.5. I don't see why it's such a problem that I don't personally believe he'd have pulled close to it though.

guys, i dont even know what you are fighting about, could someone summarise?

so far i gather:

tom thinks benni cant deadlift the 487

carl thinks benni cant deadlift the 487 but thinks that benni cant deadlift it less than tom?

I agree with Tony. He'd won comp had one lift left, nailed a few vodkas and said 'load it with whatever you want'

maybe not, but a guy pulling 450 @ 25 and a guy pulling 455 @ 38, who do you think will lift most in their lifetime??

Actually I'd say that could easily go either way, particularly if the 25 year old has already been lifting for 10 years. Many lifters find their deadlift stops progressing (and quite often goes backwards) whilst the other two lifts continue to improve.

The 38 year old has already done 455kg the 25 year old hasn't - there's a good chance that is the way it could stay.

no, tom thinks benni cant possibly improve past 440kg

i think there is a possibility that his deadlift may have improved over the last 4 years
