If I was in your shoes, Olly, I would work upwards to a maximum double (over 240) then drop down and nail one or even two sets at 240.
You'll get the muscle conditioning from the 240 set, even in a more tired state, plus you work your absolute max with the higher set.

Ive got a 240kg deadlift for reps coming up.

I hit 3 today.

How would you guys train the event in the lead up to the comp to get max reps? I know some other guys are in a similar position, Joni?

thats what you think

i am last guy to ask about deadlifts mate, do you have any questions about side holds? Grin

anyway, here is my plan. I want to make 240 routine - not many weeks ago i would be s**tting myself every time i approached 240. That has to go. So i will be nailing that, often. Not necessarily for reps, but just getting it in. Sometimes fresh, sometimes not.

in other words, i dont have a plan.

With what weight Griff?

Would love to do that, but I dont have anything like an hour to devote to deadlifts, could adapt it though.

Lol, you can try, I was jesting somewhat.

80-85% range or something

If it is a max sort of weight for you I would think backing off the weights and repping out a little lighter to get stronger would be best.

If its a toy weight vs your 1rm then use it and rep it to train it

Olly, a few years ago I had 240xreps @ Londons and had a PB of 250

I just did 2 reps 1st week and tried to add a rep every session, using the available time

How many reps did you hit and where did you place in that event out of curiosity?
