--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 26th July 09.

Trained at Olympic gym Ashton under Lyne, Manchester.

Deadlift, 155x5, 245x3, 330x3, 420x1, 506x1, 550x2, 550x2, 550x1.

8" Log Clean + Press, 205x1 strict.

8" Log, Clean + Push press, 220x1, 230x1.

Cylinder Farmers ( combined weight), 230 x 40 metres, 360 x 40 metres , 450 x 20 metres.

Suitcase farmers, pick and hold for time, 500x 25 seconds.

Drove to the Oly gym in Ashton and have to say i was gobsmacked! This gym is the Real f**kin Deal!. Hardcore. Caters for Strongman, powerlifting , Oly lifting and bodybuilding and its f**kin massive.
Don't know if it was adrenaline, but i planned on 550x2 DL today and got it twice plus another rep. I was like a kid in a sweet shop looking at the SM gear. I had to have a go at a log even though pressing wasn't on the menu, still 230 wasn't a bad weight for a first time log C+P.
I'm gonna get here as often as i can now.

I kept saying to myself and John Marsden, the fella i trained alongside, "I f**kin love it here". Very , very impressed with the whole layout. My mate is coming with me from Barnsley hopefully on Wednesday to have a bash on the SM tackle.
Anyway, congrats on a great f**kin gym Cool
Sean McCarthy.

Olympic truely is the place to be - i normally train there every Sunday and there is a huge bunch of great guys who train there too.

Glad you enjoyed it pal - i take it all the above lifts are in lbs?

LOL!

Yeah mate, i'm not the WSM

Grin Grin , I'm weak on the farmers, but i never had a chance to train on the implements, my strengths are DL and Push press, 600lb and 300lb, got both at 200bw. Anyway, i look forward to meeting you fellas next Sunday, i'm in for the SM comp on August bank holiday so i need to start hitting the events big time.
Cheers. Sean.

Is John the fella i was training with? If so Very friendly fella.
He told me about the camaraderie here, that's what appeals the most, everyone egging each other on to do their best, plus the banter of course.
Avatarrichards9876
Thats the one - hes a top bloke.

sean are you american or why did you go through the trouble of calculating the kg plates in lbs? Grin

American, no way Pedro! LoL!

I'm backwards with kilos, plus lbs seem so much heavier. When i go into my local boozer and have to order a litre of beer, then that is when i change to metric
Grin
Cos i'm a brickie, usually have to put it in layman's terms for civillians, " I can Deadlift around 11 bags of cement on a bamboo bar.

Thanks mate, cheers for the welcome.

I've got to get half decent on the yoke, i did the Northern 90k and made a bit of a fool of myself on the 250k yoke, got 15m but your granny woulda run a 400m sprint faster.
