I just think it's funny that a couple of recreational lifters are stronger in the gym than your idol! You must all see what I mean when I say Z has more raw power though. It is STRONGman afterall not technique athletic man in some lifts Z is clearly more powerful/stronger. but anyone who can put a 300lb dumbell overhead several times is not weak - in essence you point to shaws strength as a weakness. Could easily say Z has a weakness in his technique is weak/wrong - the person who has the best combination wins. this point is clear in Z winning the ASC - he was one of the weakest Deadlifters but his strength and technique across the board allowed him to win.

And his pulls even at 80% are a snatch-grip hitch fest. So those numbers may be me being generous.

But it's strongman not powerlifting. I see nobody arguing that Shaw is a better powerlifter than those mentioned. In fact I see nobody really putting forward the argument that Shaw is a better strongman than Z. Just that we would like to see them compete on equal terms. Pressing is one event out many and I don't see why you deem it so much more important than all the other events?

End of an era. Member 4646, 1964 posts | You would probably say the same about Thor. But he would probably squat close to 400 and bench 260 with a month or 2 prep. Plus Brian Shaw has the best grip in the world, he isn't losing 60kg if you take away straps.

The loss of kilos from ditching straps is not down to poor grip. It's down to over under chewing you up off the floor. Big Loz Shahlaei straps and hitch 435. In full pl meet 370. And loz' grip is as good as any strongman's.

He made it look easy. You might be right on the squat. Not sure. But 400 on a deadlift?? He would piss it! No suits, he is much stronger than all strongmen in deadlift.
