hi im daniel ,
there is a "strongman" (for crossfiters) comp at my area and i was thinking about going but i dont have access to the equipment untill the comp and i dont know if i am strong enough.
i just dont want to embarrass my self, and wanted to hear if you think i can handle the challenges based on my weights :
body weight around 105kg, aerobics pretty good
around 240kg deadlift , ohp 3x82.5kg and pretty good grip strength

the challenges are :
1. atlas stones : 50kg, 60kg, 70kg, 80kg, 90kg from high to low
2.sitting car pull 1.3ton fot 20 meters
3.flipping a pig (simulated tire flip) for 10 meters : 100kg, 120kg, 140kg, 160kg
4.farmers walk with 100kg for 20 meter and then log press 1x100kg and then again farmers walk for 20kg
5.truck pull

Sorry for any spelling mistakes, english is not my native language.

I'm a bit weaker than you other than on pressing, and I could do all of those events. Seems a bit of a push to call it "strongman" but it looks fun. You might no-rep the log, unless you spend some time training for it.

thank you very much for the answer!
as im preparing for a pl meet i wont change anything on my program (major reason im even thinking about going its because its on a deload week and can be fun!)
but i will do some push press after my OHP (for just 3 workouts so i am thinking about just doing singels 1x80kg, 1x84kg, 1x89kg).

Yeah you'll be fine with those weights, it is very crossfitty so it's pretty light

The atlas stones, despite been very light for strongman, may surprise you if you've never lifted them before, purely in relation to the technique required to get them off the floor, unlike anything else, unless you are tall and have long limbs in which case you'll find it a lot easier.

Only other thing which would concern me would be the log, again if you've never cleaned/pressed a log before 100kg is a bit hefty for a first ever attempt.

Otherwise you should piss the other stuff Happy

Stones from 50k and a 100k log? madness, just plain sillyness

^^People are a bit grumpy on here sometimes.

The local strongman club to me is kind of a garage gym. When he started getting equipment there was a hodgepodge of stuff just like this (I think the stones were 50, 60, 80, 120kg which was a fairly brutal jump for me!)

You'll have fun and its great to support someone starting out. This competition/fun meet is probably a good way for him to advertise. Enjoy.

They put a ball or foam inside to make them about the same size as the 80kg with the one I used.

(Also nice sly dig at Macroth and Dannyboy lol)

Your mother's a sly dig! Tongue

Everything else about the comp is geared towards novices/crossfitters or suitable for a range of abilities. If they only have the one, 100kg-empty log, then I guess they don't have a choice. If they're loading a lighter log to 100kg, I think it's an obvious mistake. A single overhead rep in the entire comp, at that weight, just doesn't fit with the rest of the events. Do you disagree? I'm not saying that's reason enough not to do the comp, it's just strange.

By the way, the Rogue Pig is a $900 piece of equipment, so I'm not sure about the "garage gym" angle.

I thought a pig was a few railway sleepers bolted together with rope on the top for padding. Didn't realise it was a Rogue product.

I wouldn't be able to get a 100kg log up so yes it seems heavy. I'd still have fun trying.
