Just started doing the lying on a tall bench strict barbell rows. About a month now.
Anyone know if there is a strict row/bench press ratio?
As your back is bigger than chest should the row number be higher?

im at 70 x10 strict row
Compared to 110 x 10 bench

rows are good, dont worry about the ratio the form differences is far too much to directly compare and it depends on lever lengths that make the ratio different to each person:
probably too much analysis IMO

Surely if you've lever are advantageous for bench then they are advantageous for rows and vice versa?

I was always under the impression that your numbers should "roughly" be equal on both movements and have seen a lot of people around that split ratio, albeit on a bent over row rather than a lying row.

Neil, maybe you struggled due to it being a new movement?

Yep. It is a new one for me. That's why i wondered if the row numbers should match the bench numbers as i have no idea lol

maybe on the levers but theres just no comparison between the two other than the supposed plain of movement
how can you compare the BO row to anything when peoples form ranges from this

to this

(didnt have the sound of teh last one but from the movenment of the guy hes a douche)

IMO just focus on increasing the number for both whereever they start: in bench keep the form where its competition legal if you compete and in BOR keep the form where you feel it best in where you want to build

Laying on a bench row is a strict row that keeps my form perfect. so not the same as in the 2 youtube clips.

(Trying to find an example now......)

What I mean is when people say they should be a certain ratio you'll never replicate the way they did it in a way that benefits yourself as we'll in actually producing results regardless of using a bench etc as no one else is for their 'ratio'

I remember reading that s&c coaches in the NRL used to get players to do pullups with a bench press width aiming for similar numbers with bodyweight taken into account. Was to deal with shoulder issues they came from imbalances from pressing. Imagine rows could be similar depending where you pull the bar to?

I take it off pins in the rack to start so at full extension the weights can't touch the floor.
Apart from that its the same exercise

Prone rows will always be less imo, it's a way more strict movement than a bench press! Can't use your legs, can't arch, can't bounce etc etc.
