| KevC86 | Eleiko XF bar - why so cheap? | 17-01-2015 @ 10:16 | |
Member 5141, 4815 posts SQ 300, BP 180, DL 350830.0 kgs @ 130kgs UnEq | Question is in the title, this seems very cheap for a bar rated to over 200 000 PSI, anyone got experience using one?

In paid less than that for my Eleiko competition power bar......

next comp I want to enter the platform via zipwire Member 4872, 992 posts SQ 237.5, BP 142.5, DL 265645.0 kgs @ 99kgs UnEq | Someone from Eleiko (CEO?) appeared on the Barbell Shrugged podcast and there was a lot of good info on what kind of work goes into their bars. It's designed for Crossfit, I can't remember exactly what was said about the XF bar so this is moistly speculation but I don't think they put as much work into making it so finely calibrated compared to the PL/WL bars, larger tolerances and stuff like that. Bearings built to deal with being dropped a lot rather than for quality of spin. Knurling isn't as sharp so your hands don't get wrecked doing WODs and that. But as far as materials etc it's still the same steel used in the other bars I think.

Pullum sports (they are the official UK distributor for Eleiko). Give them a call and see what they can do for you. I've bought 2 bars of them, one at the body power expo about 5 years back for £620 (special discount for the show sponsored by Eleiko), then another 18 months later for £670. Customer service is second to none as well

A few years back we went to one of the Birmingham events, there was a weightlifting display on the Saturday and a powerlifting one on the Sunday. Pullums were to supply the bars to be used and then would sell them off at a discount as they were technically second hand. The weightlifters used theirs and then no-one bought it, but we agreed on the Saturday to buy the powerlifting one for £500 on the Sunday. We returned on Sunday to find that the powerlifters had supplied their own bar and hadn't used the Pullum one. To their eternal credit, gentlemen that they are, they honoured their side of the bargain and sold us a new and un-used bar for the agreed price. It's a wonderful thing, whatever the price - get one.

Member 2202, 346 posts SQ 282.5, BP 220, DL 320.5823.0 kgs @ 120kgs UnEq | Ive squatted 230 and deadlifted 270 on the XF-bar, it is stiffer than the wl-bars but also a lot whippier than the PL Ekeiko. Also the pl-markings are nice but no centre knurling sucks for lowbar squats.

Also has duel knurling but no centre unfortunately. Strength Shop bas***d Bar is 300 with the centre knurling. https://www.strengthshop.co.uk/strength-shop-bas***d-bar-with-centr...
