As per title has anybody suffered this?

I got a pec tear a few years back benching, was never a good bencher anyway and hardly do any benching now because of it.

Anyone who does weighted dips and thinks benching is dangerous has never gone heavy enough or done it seriously.

I'd agree, always felt at risk doing them with (relatively) heavy loads. So I don't. But if your priority like most here is overhead, then a few sets of higher reps for some chest/tri assistance could be done with pretty low added load.

Doesn't mean I'm suggesting them for someone who has had a pec tear though. Years back I massively aggravated a not completely healed sternum/rib injury doing them.
