Given its abundance in varied quality proteins I am inclined to think its prob not worth it.

Looking at the evidence for their effects, and their presence in other foods I'd say they have limited uses, but some uses nonetheless.

I would recommend including them before fasted cardio.
I would consider using them before or during a long or hard lifting session.

I would not consider them in anyway essential.

VG is right there. Their best bet as a training aid is in their potential effect in sparing muscle glycogen. As opposed to increasing muscle gainz in well fed, hungry hippo, lifters Happy My take on the evidence anyway.

The amount of time and effort people spend discussing nothing factors makes me want to cry some times. Even if it was a 1% performance factor (which is far too great a magnitude of effect for it) it's impact would be lost easily by something else you were doing wrong i.e.

Sleep
Programming
Food intake (amount / type / timing to a lesser degree)
Training intensity
You psychological perpetration
Your training partner
Your pre work routine being right
etc.
etc..

Forget about supplements and pay attention to your training.

I hope you're not suggesting that 5 hours sleep per night, 50% of diet coming from KFC, no training partner and lazy programming is not optimal!
