I've been taking my training more seriously recently, after about 10 years of doing very little. I've started to consider the bars that I train with. Almost exclusively, I use an Eleiko (Training) WL bar. How will this affect my deadlifting compared to some of the main alternatives?

I pull sometimes with an eleiko weightlifting bar and sometimes with ivanko powerlifting and haven't noticed any difference, my 310 and 320 pulls were done on a Texas power bar. I am strong off the floor though so it might make more difference to someone that has a sticking point right off the floor.

I deadlift with an eleiko WL bar and I love it. A lot bendier than most bars you will use.

It does seem to have a 'very reasonable' amount of bend. I like it Happy

Absolutely!

I've got a 'no brand' Oly bar at home which now feels terrible. I've had it for years and it felt OK before I became used to using one of these Eleiko bars.

I'm trying to decide which bar I should get for home so that I can get a bit more training in. If I was still in the UK, I'd probably have bought one from Strength Shop but I don't think that Brian's affordable bars are available over here.

I need to be realistic, I'm not as rich as you Wink

With a whippy WL bar the weight loading comes in later during the lift when using a powerbar its straigit of the floor.
Some people say they lift 5-10% more with a whippy 28mm bar especialy the taxas DL bars

This bar is used for snatching, C&J, deadlifting, squatting, benching and anything else you would use a bar for where I train and it's great for all. Not exactly cheap but with a life time guarantee it's worth the investment I think...?

A weightlifting bar is way closer to a Texas power bar than it is to a texas deadlift bar, those things are 25mm like a womans bar but over 7' long so it bends with 60kg on it.

Weightlifting bars are 28mm so are texas deadlift bars 28mm although slightly longer the whip in them is similar. Power bars are 29mm and have vertualy no whip
