The doctor thinks my issue could be caused by a small "bucket-handle" meniscus tear. I hope I don't need an operation. Anyway, my knee is feeling better every day and the doctor didn't detect any significant instability, so it felt like I could do my squat session today. Cycle 3 Week 1 Back squat 95x5 110x5 125x10 80 5x10 Did these instead of overhead squats, which would have placed more pressure on the knee. A bit boring, to say the least. Big props to Fong for sticking with BBB all this time. Tough on the lower back, too. Bulgarian split squats 16kg DB in each hand, 5 reps per leg x5 Went easy on those, as a concession to "resting" my knee. | ||

Some nice kit on hand. Monster dumbbell (plate loadable) L/R 40kgx1, 50kgxF (wrist wraps), 45kgx1 (wraps + elbow sleeves), 50kg Rx1, LxF(wraps+sleeves) Conan's wheel ~200kg 3 turns. Didn't feel the need to go heavy on this since I won't be competing at it. Axle G2OH, 55, 65, 70, 75, 85x1, 95F, 95F. What I can't outright clean DOH, I can't continental clean with any kind of grip. Just can't seem to keep that bar on my chest and dip under. Feck, fack, f**k. Need more practice but won't get any for a while now. Not a comp event, thankfully. Atlas stone: 90x1, 120x1, 120x1, 120x1, 120xF. Log 62x1, 72x1, 82F, 82F, 77x1 A good heavy session, well, as heavy as I can handle anyway. Got a few technique tips, got my hands on some actual implements, got confirmation that my overhead strength is balls. Success! | ||

That 10th rep at 130 was a bit dodgy. | ||

If I had to take a pick I would say it's the good-mornings. They've helped me keep my chest up when squatting as well, I think. Maybe also the better grip from those heavy max rep sets and FW/fat grip work? We'll see how I keep progressing. Maybe next year I'll come over, since the few comps we have in France and Switzerland overlap so much, but it's a long way for a hobby that my wife barely tolerates. | ||

At some point I may want to work on those a bit, or a lot. Deads 134x3 152x3 172x11 Belt and straps = gay. Belt was planned, straps were because gym was out of chalk and I was sweating like a pig and I wanted to get decent reps this isn't grip work, son. GM 55kg 5x10 Six-pack hollow rocks, a couple of TGUs, high windmills and low windmills with a 24kg KB, hanging windshield wipers x12, toes to bar 2x10 | ||

Then I tried lifting said implements. :-D Went well enough up to 40kg, but I could barely shoulder the 80kg sandbag and was reduced to repping out some "hip thrusts" with the stone. I've decided that I'll be storing as much strongman kit as I can in my parents' old barn until we get a house of our own with a huge garage. Today = squats (Cycle 3 Week 3) Back squats 110x5, 125x3, 137x10 Front squats 100x2, 120x1, 140x1 (PB) Zercher squats 100x1, 120x1, 140x1 (PB) Since I've got a week of vacation and deload coming up, I decided to switch to heavy "assistance" work instead of the higher rep stuff. | ||
