jt said:Wowser the 400H and the women 800 did not disappoint!!! The women 200m was also pretty special. Karsten was beamon esque That record for me is the greatest thing I have witnessed on a track 9.58 was close 18.29 closer but 45.94 takes it.

A cynical side of me was wondering if the track was a meter or 2 short!!

I was aware of the "era of the super shoe'' But now we also have the SUPERTRACK which is helping with the faster times

I guess back in the 80s before super shoes and super tracks they did not have OCT so kinda evens things up.

The only thing I’ve seen on a track in recent memory which I have been as impressed by was Rudisha in 2012 or Komen running 7.20 for 3000m, but for different reasons. As a whole, it was just a race without parallel for me. There was so much hype leading into it and it didn’t just deliver, it smashed it out of the park. It was just an exhibition of running at the highest level, on the biggest stage and was a privilege to watch.
Factor in the women’s LJ, men’s pole vault, women’s hammer AND the women’s 200 and 800 and it was an amazing day in the stadium.

Apparently it's three years since he failed a lift in competition, he is the epitome of consistency.

Not sure how it is possible to watch world records being broken and still feel a little let down, his performance was pretty faultless, and for a big guy he doesn't struggle following himself; 245, 255, 265 clean and jerks in a little over 5 minutes that in itself is impressive.

How long to creep the records up to 230, 270

I read that Georgia pays athletes a bonus for medals (gold $706,000) and possibly for world records. Lasha is so dominant in his class he can take the risk of gradually increasing to maximise earnings over his career and minimise risk of injury. Hopefully a sponsor will offer a big lump to go for 500kg or we might have to wait until he's in his 30sHappy

I have only seen his top 2 lifts and both to me looked "comfortable" I can understand the bubka style small increases but would always fear the big career ending injury with unfulfilled potential.

Cleggmeister once told me something along the lines of (for him) it either goes and looks "comfortable" or its a fail, there is none of that horrible type of grinder you get in strongman.

Also a little let down by a 43.8 to win the mens 400 such has the standard been elsewhere.

I said:10.61 into a 0.6m headwind for now 2 time champ Elaine Thompson, a 2m tailwind is equal to approx 0.1 of a second so I deduce Had ET a legal 2m Tailwind and did not celebrate before the line she would of run around 10.48.

I have done a bit of research into flo jo's 10.49 and it seems there is a lot of evidence to suggest the wind was at least 5m per second(But was recorded as 0) in there favour and the run should never of been a WR. Her 2nd fastest time was 10.61 the day after her 10.49 this had a tailwind of 1.2m.

Elaine Thompson Has just ran 10.54 with a 0.9 tailwind.

No doubt that should be the World record.

Makes it even more frustrating that SAFP isn’t competing tomorrow.
