Tom_Martin said:Personal opinion is the 180's look borderline, but in. However, being in, and getting passed are two separate things unfortunately. We have the luxury to pause at the right moment and be certain that they are in. Refs don't.

You might technically be doing a good squat, but you're leaving your lifts in the hands of human error. Any of those squats could be red lighted just as easily as white lighted, and you might have been "robbed" if the lift gets turned down, but ultimately it won't matter on the results sheet.

If you go another 2 inches lower than the 180's, you put yourself at a depth that would be very difficult to misinterpret as being high. This is where I feel comfortable, anything higher is risky.

Mike, your squats tonight were 2" lower than the 180's were in this video, FYI. By lower I mean hip-knee relation, not ass-floor distance.

f**k me that's surprising!

A good anecdote from an experienced masters lifter who I trained with years ago, "if you think you're deep enough, go a bit deeper again!"
That's how I always squat, so no surprises on competition day.

You're quite blessed with squats, I was surprised how easily you took to a drastic change of technique, I think you would get away with squatting any possible way you would like to. Sitting back and keeping shins vertical just makes "parallel" come that much easier if you are able to squat "properly" this way. You are able. I'm not surprised you feel like you're cheating!

Just watched the vid properly and the last set is a little high.

I found sinking the reps quicker helped my depth.
