Ideally guys if you just can, we could meet at piccadilly train station, in the city centre side of it, next to Cafe Nero and that massive multimedia display thingie, where that "ramp" comes down to from the piccadilly train station. Would that be ok place to meet at 9.45? Could then just hit the ring road and head towards brum! rick, another option is that we pick you up from near hulme bridge or something?

sold boar a shit car Member 27, 209 posts SQ 220, BP 170, DL 240630.0 kgs @ 119kgs UnEq | I'm well up for this one, only just spotted the thread. I'll more than likely have the missus, kids and Rottweilers in tow See you there. Should I wear a pink carnation so you can recognise me, or are the Rottweilers enough of a clue

left the country satisfied Member 10, 19241 posts SQ 240, BP 150, DL 270660.0 kgs @ 107kgs UnEq | just to say that i had a great day out, in the end Tokar and Spug_mayers came along, and Big Pete was there as well with the family! Very impressive performances there, couple stood out, but due to my impossibly bad name memory i cant remember their names Mark Felix won this one and bagged £ 1300 in price money, 1000 for the first place and 100 per won event. But he was not out of reach, and couple guys came fairly close. I think Mark definitely was not on his peak on the day. Mark Westerby competed on saturday in UKSC qualifiers and then again on sunday! Man is a beast! He took the second place. Dave Meer was awesome in the viking press - such strength and technique. Very inspirational, and it was good to watch it because i have viking press in my sundays comp and i have never tried one before.

has spent time in a modern educational setting Member 47, 1221 posts | It was nice to meet Chris and Tokar and of course to see Joni again. It was a really good comp but my face and neck got pretty severe sun burn. I didn't speak to one person all day who didn't ask me "what happened?". Other "abuse" from the kids at school included "TOMATO HEAD" and "DID SOMEONE BARBEQUE YOUR HEAD?". Anyway onto the serious business!! This was maybe the best organised comp that I've been to (and I've been to a lot over the last few years). Not just because of the events but because of the location as well. Good equipment, events that tested lots of muscle groups, quick transition between events, plenty of big name competitors. As for the venue there was lots of space for the events, lots of parking space, pretty near the motorway, plenty to do for family members who didn't want to watch all the events(stalls, brilliant kids playground, acres of fields etc). As for the competitors, I'll mention the top three. Felix - A freak (but we all knew that already) Mark Westerby - To win the UK qualifier the day before then come second in this is pretty crazy. Dean Slater - First time I've seen him compete and he seemed very consistent especially on static events. Well Done to all as we all know how tough all strongman competitors are. Sorry everyone but the highlight of the day was having my photo taken with Big Geoff.
