I dont agree with this.
I know Ed keeps saying that is his goal, but recent comp performances seem to suggest that Ed has shifted his focus entirely towards the 500kg deadlift, which makes complete sense to me.
Being the first man to pull 500kg will last a lot longer as a legacy than a lone WSM title. And legacy seems to be what matters to Ed.

I agree with you 100% and this was the point I was trying to make. The first man in history to pull 500kg will be greater than winning worlds.

Going up a kilo or 3 after 463 is a year of training, dedicating almost entirely to that. Adding over 30kg to the best in history will not be done.

If anybody did do it, they wod literally keel over on the platform, vomit insulina and drop dead in front of spectators.

Ed has said that he's done 480 in training. Now that's pretty insane in its own right but 20kg more is just scary.

Terry posted on Facebook a few weeks ago that he believes his deadlift is stronger than ever and 470+ is possible.
Let's wait and see, gunna be super exciting either anyhoo!

With both Arnold's and the deadlift comp pushing for WRs I think it should go up fairly quickly now.

Benni did a 460kg raw deadlift in powerlifting which no one thought was possible.
To this day no one comes even a little bit close on that lift.
So if one freak could do 500 in the future it is him.

500kg is crack pipe though

Tend to agree with this. What do you guys know that would lead you to believe that a world record holder could increase his world record holding performance by almost 10% in one fail swoop? It's not like the PL or SM DL figures are currently soft records. Confused

From Terry's training vids he seems to be a lot stronger than ever before. At least in deadlift and log press. Not just a little bit of progression as in previous (pre retirement) years. But a big leap.

Wasn't there a fair amount of controversy with that lift? Something to do with the kit and calibration etc.

I have to say though it was a truly beautiful lift! Something it seems he hasn't replicated since.

I remember seeing Terry pull 440 for a single years ago on YouTube. His deadlift is very strong, and with a good training run and some fire in his belly, he can be a real threat. He's already said he's got 475 in him and that's the target.

Yeah there was some talking. But he said himself people should believe what they want.
He said he has lifted 470kg twice in training.
After his 460kg raw deadlift he had many injuries.
But now looks like he is really back on track

I just want to see all the top dogs fit and injury free pulling some giant numbers.

Terry, Benni, Jerry, Z, Loz, Thor and Brian can all pull over 450 if fit, and they can all push Ed.

I'd rather win a WSM title if I had the choice.

you say that but look at the progress of the log world record. 28kgs in 10 years aint bad , no reason it cant be done on the deadlift
