Hi everyone,

I used to run a training log on muscleandbrawn.com, but the guy who run the site closed down the forums, and I lost *all* of my training logs. It's been a while since then, and I've been a long term lurker on Sugden, so thought I would give this a go.

Current status: Not really lifted with any consistency since June last year, for a variety of mostly s**t reasons training has been sporadic at best since then. Numbers in June were ~ 230 squat, 145 bench, 280 deadlift, 85 strict press.

Goals:
Longer term =
I have done a few novice strongman comps, and have one set up for the end of May, I'd like to give a good showing in that (I've managed a podium once in about 7 competitions). I'm also keen to do a powerlifting comp in the next year or so.

Now = My weight has crept up from 97/98kg to about 105, so first goal is to get back in the groove of lifting and to get my weight back down to that range.

Training:

As I'm almost 'getting back on the horse' I'm going to do a month of pretty simple 5x5 stuff to get myself back in the groove. Then I'll probably go back to Rob Rees who has been doing my programming for the last couple of years with spectacular results!

Training 03/03/2018:

Squat: 60x5,100x5, 140x5x5
Strict OHP: 20x8,40x8, 60x5x5
Seated Row / Plank superset - 180x10/45s x3
Tricep Extensions/Nautilus curls Superset - 65x7/80x15 x3

04/03 - Went on a 20 min run, covered 3.6km.

Elevated external rotation on right shoulder is a bit sore - has been since rugby a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully this will go away, wasn't painful in pressing.

Deadlift - worked up to 5x5x180. Very comfortable and didn't use a belt.
Bench 5x5x100 - surprisingly no shoulder pain
Superset 8 chins/8 rollouts 3 sets
Superset 7 cable curls/15 overhead cable extensions 3 sets

Thinking about investing in an SBD belt as got some birthday money - anyone have any thoughts?

Not a bad session, suffering from doms pretty bad so deads being easy was quite a surprise.

Tuesday 6 Mar - 20min run, 3.66 KM in heavy traffic, actually felt okay in spite of my leg DOMS.

Wednesday 7 March:

Superset (7 Tricep Overheads/15 cable preacher curls) x3

Didn't train on Thursday/Friday last week, as played rugby on Saturday. Opposite man had probably 10 stone on me, so naturally was a in a fair chunk of pain on Sun/Monday. Ended up working until 9pm on Tuesday which meant I wasn't home before gym shut.

Wednesday:
Squat 5x5x145,
BP 5x5x100 (I think i've aggravated something in my shoulder playing rugby, perhaps rotator cuff, so kept the weight low)
3x (10 Seated row (190)//45s Plank)
3x (7 Pushdowns (65)//15 Nautilus curls(70))

Thursday 3.7km run, finished it in 19m 30s. Need to increase distance.

Went to Edinburgh on the weekend, ate a buttload of meat and had a bit to drink, as a result didn't do any exercise on Sat/Sun.

Monday:
Deadlift 5x5x185 beltless - think I might have tweaked something in my back on my 4th set. Didn't feel quite right.

Standing Strict press 5x5x62.5

3x Superset (8 pullups/8 rollouts)
3x superset (7 Cable hammer curls (65)/15 Cable overhead extensions (40))

Tuesday - back was giving me grief, but did a 4k run in 20 mins.
Wednesday, back still giving a bit of grief, but eased up through session:
