Thanks man, I was actually considering bringing this log back today, was surprised to see a comment on it.

Strict press is a decent lift for me, and I love training it. Here's the 112.5

Haven't maxed bench in a while, think I've got a bit more than the 145kg in me just now.

Thanks chaps, figure I'll log my stuff here again...

Training's been going well and I'm pretty much niggle free, competed in my first comp in nearly 2 years last weekend which was the first qualifier for the SFN Expo.

Viking Press (130kg plate weight):
I was last up and I think 12 was the number to beat but I knew I was nowhere near that, struggled to get anything from my legs as I've never trained a viking press before, got 5 very shaky reps.

Tyre Flip (5 reps for time):
Only got 4, the thing felt heavy as hell.

Farmers Walk (135kg):
Never gone this heavy on farmers, susrpisingly my grip felt ok but I just couldn't walk with them, think I was hunched over too much and the implements were against my shins making it near impossible to walk, did maybe 3/4 of the course.

Lorry Pull:
Done this in the past but morale was low coming into it, think I was maybe 3rd up after my s**t performance on the farmerss but once I got it started it felt pretty easy and I got a decent time, clawed a few points back here I think.

16" Deadlift (260kg):
Was aiming for double figures and just got 10, was happy with this but a few were getting 10-12 reps, certainly top half of the scoreboard though.

Atlas Stones over yoke (135kg or 145kg)
I was eyeing up the 145kg before the event but once it started a lot of people struggled with it and dropped down to the 135kg which looked a lot easier, the best before me was Dhanni with 3 reps on the 145kg. Decided to give it a bash regardless and I'm glad I did, hit 3 reps and decided enough was enough but on realising how much time I had left I hit a 4th, this was the highlight of my day.

Got 8th from 16 which I'm pretty happy with, gave me an idea what I need to be working on and suss out some of the other guys in the weightclass.

Tonight's sesh;

Squats - My achilles heel since having a lot of bother with tendonitis. Spent a lot of time warming up - glute/core activation etc, think I've finally got something dialed in.

60kg x 5, 5
80kg x 5
100kg x 5
120kg x 2
140kg x 2
160kg x 2
180kg x 1
200kg x 1 - Finally matched my old PB (which was in wraps I think) from nearly 2 years ago, hardly a world beating weight but I'm happy to get back here. Planning running the Russian Masters routine again, need to bring my squat up.

Leg Press
270kg x 5x10

Calf raises on the leg press.

Finito, don't usually train on a Sunday but I'm unable to train after Wednesday for a few days so thought I'd squeeze one in.

18/05/15 - Press

Log (1 clean):
Upto 90kg x 5, 5, 5

Bench:
60 x 10
90 x 5
120 x 3
140 x 1

Pull-Ups:
BW x 5, 5, 5
+10kg x 5, 5, 5 - Highlight of the night, these were good.

Finished with some arms, not the most inspiring session; log was supposed to be for 5x5 but it just wrecked me and it flared up a wee niggle in my left shoulder/lat. Bench was s**t, been getting bicep/forearm pain when I've got the bar on my chest. I enoying benching but it may have to have a few weeks off while I work out what's going wrong.

This was my third heavy session in a row, day off tomorrow and deads on Wednesday and I'll be having 4 days off which will help a lot.

20/05/15 - Deadlifts and Upper Back

Beltless:
60kg x 5
110kg x 3
160kg x 3
200kg x 3 (was meant to be 190)
230kg x 3, 3, 3 (first mis-load threw me and I thought it was 220. didn't realise 'till i was done score!)

Yates Rows
Lat Pulldowns
Neutral Grip Pullups
Straight-arm Pushdowns

Happy with these, gonna run with beltless for a while and see if it helps out with my belted efforts, it has done in the past so fingers crossed - Feel I've got 290kg on a good day in the tank but I won't be testing that for a bit.

25/05/15 - Overhead

3 days of pretty heavy drinking and not eating very much was fun at the time, but I knew I'd pay for it on this session.

Log:
Upto 3 singles with 110kg
115kg clean only

Felt heavy as hell.

Strict Barbell:
80kg x 5, 5, 5

26/5/15 - Squats

Back Squats:
60kg x 5, 5
100kg x 5, 5
130kg x 3
150kg x 1
160kg x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3

Tried fronties after a long time of not doing them but I wasn't feeling it.

More back squats:
100kg x 5x10

Fin.

Missed the past few days...

28/05/15 - Deadlifts

Beltless:
220kg x 5
230kg x 4
240kg x 3

Had short shorts on and the bar kept getting caught on my thighs, these felt strong though... Threw on a belt and Darryn's spare pair of leggings.

290kg x 1 - PB! Felt tough but looks decent on video.

Log, strict:
40kg x 8
60kg x 5

Then I tried to do some banded rotator cuff things like I usually do before pressing and my left shoulder was killing me, hometime.

29/05/15 - Pressing

Figured I'd try again, the pain from last night subsided after an hour or so, did a lot of rolling with the lacrosse ball.

Bench:
Upto 115kg x 3, 3, 3 - Pain free and no spotter/lift off to kept it well within myself

30/05/15 - Events

Yoke:
100kg x 30m (Drop and Turn)
200kg x 30m (Drop and Turn)
250kg x 15m
300kg x 10m
350kg x 10m - Previous heaviest yoke was 300kg, got this with no drops and a steady pace.

Farmers:
70kg x 30m (D&T)
90kg x 30m (D&T)
110kg x 15m
130kg x 10m - Good run, no drops.

Arm over arm:
Darryn's Mondeo on s**tty tarmac for 2 runs, first time trying this and it felt good.

Sandbag over yoke:
100kg x 2
110kg x 2

Good events session, hopefully get on the yoke at least once a week now, the 350 felt good with very little training, could maybe become one of my better events, farmers have improved, all good Happy

01/06/15 - Pressing

BTN Pushpress:
40kg x lots
60kg x 3
80kg x 3
100kg x 1
110kg x 3
120kg x 3 - PB

Log:
(1-motions)
80kg x 3
95kg x 1
105kg x 1 - PB
(clean and p/press)
110kg x 1
117.5kg x 1 - Actually a PB, went up well.
125kg x Clean, failed press - This is there, just lost my line.

Bench:
60kg x 10
80kg x 8
100kg x 5
120kg x 5, 5 - Feeling much better.

Pullups:
BW x 9
+12.5kg x 4, 4, 4

Nice session, second last one before SSM u105s!

Hopefully with a few more sessions on the log I'll feel a lot more comfortable with it, used to be one of my better lifts and now I'm a bit intimidated by it, heading in the right direction again though.

Thanks bud, it's coming together!

Last night -

Squats:
60kg x 5, 5, 5
100kg x 3, 3
120kg x 2
140kg x 2
160kg x 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4 - Line felt off but these weren't a problem. Plenty of power in my legs just need to get more stretching in I think.

Deadlifts (beltless)
70kg x 5
120kg x 3
170kg x 3
200kg x 1
220kg x 5 - Slower than I would have liked and wanted a couple more reps but not bad after that squat volume.

Now it's time to rest up for the 105s on Sunday!

Thank Jack, it was an enjoyable and surprising PB.

Competed in Scotland's Strongest man u105kg yesterday:

Arm over arm:
I was 3rd up. This was a flatbed lorry with a transit van on the back, 20m course. Was quite looking forward to this event but it turned out we had a big tyre as an anchor point and we had to pull the rope over it, this affected everyone though. Got around 52s which got me 9th place.

Medley of death:
4 flips of a tyre, load a 120kg keg and 120kg sandbag, and 4 flips of the tyre back. I actually missed the whistle at the start so lost a few seconds, got the 4 flips fairly well, got the keg up fine and the sandbag went up well too, was totally gassed by this point though, did another 2 flips of the tyre and attempted a 3rd a couple of times but had nothing left. Mid-table I think.

260kg deadlift for reps:
I think I was in the 3rd pairing and best so far was 5 reps from Dhanni. I wanted 5 until I seen that so I had to up my goal to 6, I used the full time limit and just got the 6 reps in. Really happy with this, 4th place.

Car Walk:
This was labelled as around 300kg but I just couldn't get to grips with it. Picked it up a couple of times and dumped it forward. Got a grand old distance of 70cm! 2nd last place and a sore shoulder. Was quite looking forward to it as a 350kg yoke had gone well in training.

Max Log:
Started at 105 which I 1-motioned, cleaned and pressed the 115 and 120 fairly comfortably. managed to clean the 125 but the press wasn't there. 2.5kg PB and mid-table.

Atlas Stones:
Had a good go at these at my last comp 4 weeks ago so I was feeling good. Think I rushed the 120 though and fell towards the lorry and had to steady myself, 135 went up okay, lost my balance again with the 150 and had to catch myself on the lorry but I loaded it okay and I managed to get the 165 up fairly well. Half-arsed the 180 but i knew it wasn't there, never even got it off the floor.

7th place overall and a few PBs with the 260kg x 6, 120kg log and 165kg atlas stone. A great experience and I'm looking forward to the next one in 4 weeks!
