hi joni

forget to add am 93kg - think i will try to loose 3KG (not for5 this comp, but in time!) to make 90KG category

comp is in North Yorkshire somewhere, cant remember exactly

had a brief look at comp prep on various websites, but will certainly be posting for opinions from fellas from here

was goin to start 1st week in Dec (once established my 1rM), is 8 weeks enough?

oh yeah, agree totally mate, bench is good, squat and dead piss poor, but will be better (have neglected these as a BB somewhat)
Avatarmarc
Bentham mate, eight weeks is plenty its just a qualifier hit those totals save your records for british, you can also just bench, deadlift or squat and qualify for single lifts in julyHappy
AvatarJC
ok marc, cheers

would tokars 5x3 workout in the article section be ok for the lead up to a comp?
Avatarmarc
What are you planning a couple of single lifts or full power?
AvatarJC
sorry mate, dont me to sound like a plank, but i dont understand what you mean?
AvatarCarl
are you doing squat bench and deadlift or just one or 2 of them?
AvatarJC
was going to do them all

good experience i figure, and gives me targets for the next comp also
Avatarmarc
what i am saying jc you could do all three but if you only hit the qualifying total in the bench, you could apply to enter the british single lifts in july, if you did it in the squat you could enter that too, so even if you don't get the unequipped total there is still a way to the british championships mate.

thanks Carl, will join both then

slightly off topic, does anyone know any powerlifting gyms in Wigan

I currently train at Cats gym in Orrell, but trained as a BB in past and would like some pointers on technique etc

Eek Eek Eek Catt's is one of the top powerlifting gyms in the UK, farless Wigan!!! I do a 60 mile round trip once a week just to train there! Have you told Harry or Wayne that you want to start powerlifting?
Avatarmarc
I thought you trained there cult leader. There you go jc one of the best bench technicians in the country trains at your gym, you will probably be out benching me in a couple of months with a few pointers from the golden one. see you when you out bench me at the british...this is devastating news going further down the rnksUnhappy Unhappy
AvatarJC
ha ha marc, i doubt it

so at the comp, would i just let them know i will be doing all 3 lifts, but also want all 3 considered cas singles also?

Hi martin, i dont know who they are, just keep myself to myself, train and go home

I will ask for them when I go in, see what they say

whjat day do you train there mate?
AvatarMartin1956
Harry is the owner (well, the owner's husband!!Grin ) and Wayne is his son. Thanks for the kind words Marc, but there's a lot, lot better than me train there. Mick Ashurst (totals 900) Wayne, Ian Shaw, Pork Pie, Phil Boyham just for starters. I come on Mondays at 7 for a little play on the bench with a selection of the following: Little Dave, Medium Dave, John WWW, Joey, Huge Dave, Tali and Raani.
AvatarJC
when u said harry the owner, confused me

that older woman is always there when i go, lovely she is

is her son a huge fella, always sat in the front bit?
