Strong pressing mate. How far above your chest are the pins set?

Wednesday
Bench Press
15 x 20
5 x 60kg
3 x 80kg
2 x 95kg
1 x 105kg
1 x 115kg
1 x 122.5kg (PB)
7 x 105kg (previous best at this weight 5 reps)
Tricep machine
3 x 10 (20kg, 35kg, 40kg)
Pressdown
3 x 8 (8 wts, 9wts, 10wts
Crunch machine
2 x 15 (20kg head, 45kg feet)

Today felt a bit disappointing. Even though i managed a PB in this session, it didn't feel easy, and in general benching today was a bit hard, like Saturday. Particularly crap was my failure to get 8 reps on 105kg. Got tired a bit too quick today. Maybe it is time to go back to benching just once a week. Still a PB is a PB so no point whingeing too much

Sunday
Deadlift
2 x 5 x 60kg
5 x 100kg
5 x 140kg
5 x 170kg

Spped deadlift
6 x 3 x 130kg

Hammer Pulldown
8 x 60kg
8 x 80kg
8 x 90kg

Chest supported row
8 x 60kg
2 x 8 x 80kg

Seated DB Curls
8 x 25lb
8 x 35lb
8 x 40lb

Calf raises
12 x 450lb
2 x 12 x 550lb

Solid session today. Trying to add a bit more volume on the deadlifting. 170 x 5 was not too difficult, a few more in there for sure. The speed deadlifts were just an attempt to get the bar moving as quick as possible and cut down time between sets to 75-90 secs.

Saturday
Bench Press
15 x 20kg
5 x 60kg
2 x 80kg
2 x 90kg
2 x 100kg
2 x 110kg
2 x 110kg
2 x 110kg
Dumbbell shoulder press
8 x 30lb
8 x 50lb
8 x 60lb
lateral raises
8 x 20lb
8 x 25lb
8 x 30lb
incline situps
2 x 20

Not a great session today. Everything felt heavy on bench press. Ay 90k i didn't think i would be able to lift 110k at all. The three working sets were slow and a bit sluggish, though they still represent progress. I hope i can get a bit of zip back into bench training soon. Dumbbell presses were OK but set off a bit of a dull ache in my right shoulder in the last rep or two of last set. Lateral raises felt comfortable. Next time heavier.

If my experience is anything to go by, the trip will bring one thing for definite.. pain! The first time i had physio on my shoulder, my god it hurt. But it was very effctive.

This injury is becoming persistent, isn't it? Join the club, my right shoulder, which has been niggling me for a while (ironically it started feeling bad at the same time as the left one was getting better) is starting to give me grief.

Have you thought of temporarily substituting other exercises for a week or so, such as hack squats for squats. Will take pressure off the lower back and hamstrings. Your experience at the last comp showed that you leaving deadlift and squat alone for a while doesn't affect your strength much.

Wednesday
Light squat session today
Squat
2 x 5 x 60kg
5 x 100kg
5 x 3 x 120kg

Leg Curls
8 x 8wts
2 x 8 x 10wts

Seated Calf raises
3 x 12 x 70kg

Easy session today, which was just as well as i felt a bit weary. Only light weights and it was quite easy. Back to heavier squats next week. Just trying to be slow and steady at the moment.

Good stamina on the bench. The lower back twinge, is it central, left or right?

Wednesday
Bench Press
15 x 20kg
5 x 60kg
3 x 80kg
3 x 95kg
3 x 105kg
3 x 105kg
3 x 105kg
3 x 105kg
3 x 105kg

Tricep machine
10 x 20kg
10 x 35kg
8 x 45kg (hard)

pressdown
8 x 8wts
2 x 8 x 9wts

single arm pressdown
3 sets

Crunch machine
2 x 15 (20kg head, 45kg feet)

Solid session today. Bench press gradually rising. Though not easy no spotter was needed, which is a sign there may be a bit more in it. Right Shoulder held up throughout which was good. Really tried to train my triceps hard today as in the past i have not done them hard enough.

Monday's back session
Deadlift
2 x 5 x 60kg
5 x 100kg
5 x 3 x 130kg

HG Pulldown
8 x 60kg
2 x 8 x 100kg

chest supported Row
8 x 60kg
8 x 90kg

Barbell Shrugs
8 x 60kg
8 x 100kg

Dumbell Curls

Calf raises
3 x 12 x 450lb

Back deload session. Deadlift light. Other back exercises using similar weights to normal. Didn't do massive volume as there was no point doing a light deadlift only to compensate by ramping up the other back exercises. I don't know what i am doing wrong but shrugs hurt my traps and not in a nice way.

Sunday.
Easy session today, just deloading really, testing out my right shoulder after physio on Thursday.

Bench
15 x 20kg
5 x 60kg
5 x 3 x 80kg

DB Shoulder Press
8 x 30lb
2 x 8 x 40lb

Lat raises
8 x 20lb
2 x 8 x 25lb

Incline sit ups
2 x 20

Shoulder ok, though not 100%. It was ok on bench once i had warmed up. Better be ok for Wednesday's bench. Right trap a bit sore. God knows where that came from. Am doing a light back session tomorrow so will find out if there is a problem or not.

Excellent performance mate, especially considering you weren't 100%. Well done on the comp PB and the Comp bench PB.
