Dave284 said:Having done it for a while, a daily max is VERY different to an actual max. The whole point is to use as little weight as possible to get the maximum training effect - no psyche, no belt, a lot of warm up sets. You work up to a 'daily max' take the weight down 10-20kg and work back up in doubles.

I do agree with the first part of what you daily maxs are very different to actual max's. As far as you go for using as little weight as possibe i dissagree. I do understand the accumaltion of training everyday and working upto a daily max is work with in its own right but the only way to get good at lifting heavy weights is lifting heavy weights. Im trying to get the groove right with heavy weights. Doubles arent the same as singles because an element of fatigue changes the way you lift the 2nd rep. Its all about perfect form on every lift.

What i have found works for me is i set up most of my squats by doing one round of max attempt, then depending on how i feel the 1st round went usually drop with weight start all the way at the beggining again and do pauses to a paused max aswell. I change it up accordingly. I do try and get atleast 5 heavy singles in per session above 90% of that daily max. (Not that perecentages mean f**k all in john brozs eyes)

These are my views on this and how it has worked for me but i am a newbie to the whole training everyday as i havent even been doing it a whole month yet.
Thanks for the input i love learning about new theorys and idea's about training.

Keep them coming

I think he is going for PBs as the lift before felt easy, so thinking his daily max is an overall PB?
Been reading your journal with interest, different approach to what i've seen!
Do you think your deadlift will suffer or improve?
Nice progress though..

Your right, if the bar is feeling light and the speed of my warmups were fast so yes in some case my daily max has been my overall pb.

To start off with i had a 190kg high bar beltless squat so i was trying to hit 180kg everyday. After hitting 210kg a few weeks later i decided that my daily max should be around or what i would atleast like to be hitting was 190kg everyday no matter what. This was happening and 200kg was falling sometimes too.

I cant fault the progress i have made...

Before this program:

Higbar beltless squat 190kg
Highbar beltless paused squat 153kg
highbar beltled squat 200kg
highbar belted paused squat 165kg

Current pb's

Higbar beltless squat 210kg
Highbar beltless paused squat 195kg
highbar beltled squat 220kg
highbar belted paused squat 200kg

In all honest i believe that the amount of work that i have been putting in while turnover to my deadlift a highbar (ol) due to the amount of work you get firing the hips my deadlift will have gone up. Obviously lack of practice may be an element here but nothing a few sessions cant solve. I have put on my in the cycle of training that that i have in a whole year.

The max weight i have squatted low bar (powerlifting) squat is 206kg now that im lifting 220kg highbar a harder weaker and longer leverage exercise i would like to hit 240kg low bar thats the goal.

240kg squat in comp before i turn 20. Tongue

Thanks for the input mate, i think i will be ok if im honest just need to stretch. Im going back to uni end of sep so will continue training everday and trying to squeeze the most out of training until then. I dont think squatting once a week is enough for me.
