Well done on the p.b's mate. 170kg stone to 55" is insane! I've only just realised today how heavy that is when i struggled to pick up my new 115kg stone!

Friday 9/4/10
3.5" Deficit deadlifts
(hook grip no belt)
60kg x 10
100kg x 6
150kg x 3
195kg x 1
(belt alt grip)
213kg x5x2 sets
Getting some good speed of the floor now. Last set/rep was pretty tough though, bit of a grinder. Should be good up to 215 maybye.

Back squats
Bar x 10
60kg x 8
100kg x 5
140kg x 2
160kg x 5x2 sets
First set was easy(ish) second set was solid. Still suck at squating, infact my bottom position squat is alomost as strong as my regular squat! But i'm sure the deadlifts prior to these comprimised the weight slightly.

Weighted pullups (palms towards me)
B.W x 8
+15kg x 5
+25kg x 2
+41kg x5x2 sets

2" thick bar curls
Bar x 10
30kg x 8
37.5kg x 8
46kg x 8x2 sets

Calf raises
30kg x 15
50kg x 15
85kg x 15x3 sets

Happy with today. Redemed myself from wednesdays s**t workout.

Nice front squats. Have you tried using a clean grip though? Could sort out the breathing problem.

Wednesday 7/4/10

Weighted dips
B.W x 10
+20kg x 8
+32.5kg x 4 (felt heavy)
+45kg x 2 (felt heavier)
+53kg x 4+1 fail (still a p.b)
+53kg x 2 WTF!
+53kg X 1 WTF!!!!!
All sets felt heavy. Absolute s**te. Not to pissed off though as over the past 4 days i've hardly eaten and due to being ill have lost 2.5kgs in weight.

Incline dumbbell press
20kg x 8
42.5kg x 7
42.5kg x 6
quiting whilst i'm behind.

Lat flyes
5kg x 16x 3 sets

EZ bar skull krushers
15kg x 10
30kg x 10x3 sets

leg raises
2 sets of 10 reps
nice and easy.

Disapointed with today but felt well, with no aches or pains....hopefully with some good food over the next couple of days my strength should come back for fridays deadlifting.

Boar said:yea mate , really is worth a trip ,once you have made it clear to jt that your not up for ManBumFun you will have a BALL !!

also it looks like the BSM u90 final will be in brum ...obviously i wont be competing but may go to watch king kenny

If it's in brum, i'll defo come and watch! Would be the first strongman show i've seen allso, so it'd be a good intro into how it's all set up.
Is there a date set for the final yet?

Sure someone on here is local ish on here and would let you train.

Birmingham mate. I allso work horrible split shifts so fitting in training is difficult at best.

Boar said:i simply cannot stick to any sort of diet of any kind ! i just stay away from the kids chocky ... that 'i feel like s**t' time is grim , i had a bit recently and had swine flu last year that wes awful , you'll bounce straight back and suddenly SIGN UP for the u90's comp ...

Thanks boar, have to be strict on the diet, i put on weight too easliy, and besides, i dont want to have to cut too much when i sign up for the u90's!! (you may regret requesting i sign up lol)
Oh, on a positive note, i bagged a bargain on ebay yesterday, 115kg atlas stone for £55! Should be picking it up on sat!

No training over the weekend or today. Still feel rubbish. I think fridays session really contributed to making me feel much worse. After i'd finished training, i went upstairs and crashed out on my bed where i fell asleep for an hour and woke up feeling like hell. Stomach is still all over the place, and have only eaten 2 peices of toast today in a bid
to sort it out.
Mini rant..........
Can't understand why i'm ill so often (relativley). I allways eat healthy foods, lots of protien and good fats, lots of fruit and veg, vitimins and mineral supplements daily, kefir before bed, i don't smoke, or drink, have cut out all sugars and sweeteners and yet i don't think i'm any healthier than i was when i used to eat sausage rolls and chips every day, and smoke and drink at weekends!!
Rant over...
Anyway, i've been doing the TCD (timed carb diet) for too long now, and think a slight change ie, more carbs and less strict on things like diet coke will do me some good. Will most likely put some bodyfat on, but as long as i dont get too fat, and the strength gains keep coming i can live with it. New diet will most likely look something like this...

Half day timed carb
Meal 1
Bran flakes in goats milk + Whey + 1 tbs efa

Meal 2
whole wheat sandwiches of turkey, cheese and salad
1 peice of turkey, peice of friut and raw carrot

Pre work out
30grams bcaa before training and some peanut butter

Post work out
whey/dextrose shake

ppw0
Scrambled egg on whole wheat toast

Meal 5
Turkey, salad, cheese and dressing

Meal 6
Steak and veg

No idea of the cals, it's my biggest downfall not counting cals, but i just cant be that regimented.

Friday 2/4/10
Felt absolute wank yesterday, still feeling s**t today. It's been raining for most of the week and i've been soaked everyday at work, which allways gives me a cold. Was aching all over and had a dodgy stomach, but thought the hell with it.

Bottom position squats
20kg x 10
60kg x 8
100kg x 5
135kg x 2
156kg x5x2sets
Good stuff, still feel thats there's more in me yet. Getting closer to my 160x5x2 goal.

Band pull thrs
3 sets of 21 reps.
Set these up out side on the patio and they worked much better. Solid though!

Kroc rows
20kg x 10
40kg x 8
60kg x 5
(straps)
70kg x 30
These pretty muched fkilled me off, was breathing like a mad man for a good few minutes after i'd finished!

2" thick bar curls
bar x 10
30kg x 8
37.5kg x 8
47.5kg x8x2 sets

Started to do some warmups for calf raises but decided i'd had enough.

Boar said:are you doing the u90 midlands qualifier ??

and if not, WHY NOT ???

top stuff mate

everyone should have a sandbag or 2

Sandbags are awesome mate, cheap as chips and impossible to break anything with em!

I'm afraid i wont be doing the u90 midlands qualifier. I have no strongman equipment to train with (never even seen a log in the flesh before) and there is no strongman gyms local enough to me that i know off. Lame excuse i know, but i'm in the process of making my own yoke, farmers walk handles and log, so hopefully i can start competing soon! You guy's look like you have a s**t load of fun and i want in!!

Wednesday 31/3/10
Had really bad pain in my biceps/elbows today due to mondays squating i think, which made pressing much more difficult. Took some ibuprofen (which starting working after i'd trained lol) and did my best.
Push press
20kg x 10
40kg x 8
60kg x 5
80kg x 1
95kg x 5x2 sets
100kg x 1
Chuffed to get 2 sets with 95kg. Short term goal reached!! I'm going to drop it down to 3x3 now and aim to get 100kg x 3 for at least one set.

Sandbag strcit press
15kg x 8
30kg x 6
45kg x 4
60kg x 6x3 sets

Snadbag shouldering
60 x 2 (1 each shoulder)
75kg x 10 (5 each shoulder)

Side raise
15kg x15x3 sets

Band push downs
3 sets of 22 reps
finished with neck work and a quick set with the abb wheel.
