Weigh in will be from 3ish on Friday. Possibly earlier if I can get the afternoon off work.

Errr no thanks! Don't want any actual strong blokes competing against me and ruining my comeback!

Good luck with your goals...out of interest, how close are you to the #3??

Been a long time since i last updated a training log, but with a 3 week old baby boy in the house, and only 5 years away from being 40, i thought having a training log would help keep me accountable for my s**t, and give me a little more motivation to actually start improving again and get some real strength!!

The ultimate goal is a 300kg deadlift, with training being more tailored towards that ,but i do have 2 other goals, to compete again, and to get certified on the captain of crush no.3

Strength is down quite a bit, but being sleep deprived is probably a major factor in this, so im not too worried at the mo.

Training will be a very basic 3 day full body routine for now, with slightly reduced volume to compensate for lack of sleep.

I'll try and do some conditioning when i can, but again no too worried about this as i do a lot of physical labour at work.

Great post.
Can confirm i was there at that comp and my deadlift and overhead was in the poor range decribed.
There needs to be more medium level comps in this country for u80kg as often you go to something like bigger stronger faster and it's 60kg log for reps and 60kg farmers which is stupidly light. (Although good for when it was my first ever comp and i got 3 reps on the 60kg log.)
Englands is going ahead. At PTS. June. 300kg Yoke, think 100 or 120 farmers, Max log, truck pull etc.
There's also Arnolds qualifier in 4 weeks or so. Max Log and deadlift. You should go and win the deadlift at least. Wink

Any links to the arnolds qualifiers??

Havn't updated in a while so I thought now would be a good time. For the past 6 weeks,i've been doing 5/3/1 with good results hitting a few rep PB's with lots of kettlebell snatches/swings and skipping for gpp. This sunday just gone,i was having a sort out of stuff in my garden and ended up fracturing my hand after a garden slab fell on it. Have been to the fracture clinic today and been told by the doctor that two of my fingers need to remain tapped togethere for 3 weeks, and that the fracture would take 6 weeks to heal fully.

So,now that I can't really use my right hand for anything heavy for atleast the next 3 weeks,i thought what better time to do a smolov squat cycle!

I'm only running the jnr one,as i'm hoping after 3 weeks I can do some sort of light deadlifting and pressing again

Wednesday
Raw Squat

Bar x 10 x 2
60 x 8
100 x 6
120 x 3
135 x 5 reps x 7 sets

Good Mornings
Bar x 10
56 x 15 x 3

Abb work

Friday
Raw Squat

Bar x 10 x 2
60 x 8
100 x 6
120 x 3
145 x 4 x 8 sets

Left Hand Dumbell Press
20 x 12
30 x 12
35 x 10
40 x 8

Left Hand Dumbell Row
40 x 10
50 x 13 x 3 sets

Fin

After 3 weeks of this,my left arm and pec are going to be HENCH!

What one of the black oxide coated versions of the TPB bar (there are different versions and the unfinished version is thicker and stiffer)?
I've owned 2 of the black oxide versions (used 4 others as well) and I've got my mates in the garage at the moment - They've all have had as much flex as my Ivanko weightlifting bar.....

Yep,got the black oxide coated one from strength shop. Maybe i'm just not using enough weight to make it flex? But I still like it Grin

Would have to agree with you on the do-wins,although if it's just for squating I think they're ok.

Has anyone tried the nike romelao 2's? I'm very tempted to get a pair.

There was a bit of that I'll admit Happy
But it was more about the TPB bars being ok for what they actually cost - $250, but a right f**king rip off by the time they have been shipped over here.
They are as whippy as any olympic bar I've ever used and bend relatively easily.
York do a 'power bar' that I think you can grab for around 250 - 300, I've not used one but have heard that they are ok

I'm not as expeirienced as Paul with using different bars, but my tpb is not whippy in the slightest and I could only see it bending if you start doing very heavy rack pulls with it. They're a great investment imo.
