Hey Rosco,

Think 3 guys from this board are in for sure (2 of us from Edinburgh though), and possibly another 2 more depending on if Al's taking any late entries.

Look forward to seeing you there!

p.s. care to give away any inside info on your guys (strengths/weaknesses)Wink Grin

Welcome Rosco!

Had a proper good nose through your site a month or two ago and it's great! Keep up the good work and training.

Thanks guys,

As for strengths/weaknesses im a powerlifter by trade by thought this looked like fun! My worst event will farmers walk as my girl like grip will only let me hold onto them for about 2 seconds!

Greg Drummond, not trained for strongman either but generally a good all rounder.

Kris Malcolm, just started his strongman training last year, pretty good all round but hates the chain drag so far!

Mikey Fraser, all round alcoholic and nice guy, as long as he has a laugh he doesn't care!!

None of us have used a yoke before but hope to get a blast at one next week.

How are you guys getting on?

hey rosco, nice of you to pop by! f**king awesome site you have there, been reading your articles today at work (cheers for the time killers Wink )

Good turn out you are getting from your crew - originally Olly and Jonny Mills were going to come but didn't get their forms in in time. I bet the comp would have been a bit too light for those nutters though to be honest... Me and anthony are coming from sugden gym, and jonathan and buzz are also SB board members though from Ed.

But for me it is a perfect one. Started training with the strongman toys two weeks ago, and have two training sessions under my belt now. I think i will make progress on every session as i get used to the toys.

Stones will be my weakness - so far haven't loaded even a pebble to a platform. Determined to do that next weekend (with 105kg stone).

I am hoping to do 5 reps with the log and good run with the farmers. Yoke - that is a bas***d. Goal has to be not to get killed in the process.

Hey will be good to meet you and other guys on the day! I guess we should be wearing sugden barbell shirts Grin

Grin Grin Grin Haha Quality!!

We had a small strength comp up here in a local gym with the boys at the end of December, thats what made me wanna do this one, was such good crack! That was the first time i had picked up a stone, quite liked it! It was 100kg stone load for reps in 60 seconds, got it 9 times (video below), but have never tried a 110 or 120kg stone, hope to try this weekend!

Saw in your progress journal that someone posted a video of a log press, is that you? Was looking easy anyway!!

s**t, 9 reps with the 100 is impressive. I am now officially s**tting myself. You know if you beat me that I will complain that your strength comp counts as a strongman comp, and that you should not have been eligible for a 1st timers? Wink Tongue

I've been training strongman for a while, but have slacked off over the winter coz of typical dodgy weather (and being lazy!). Farmers is my weakness too. If i can manage to pick them up i'll be happy, but will start crying when they slip out my hands after 1.56m Happy

Ha well its maybe not as impressive as it looks, that 100kg stone is made of Granite and the surface is ruff as hell so it really sticks to your arms, it tore mine to shreads, was bleeding everywhere!! I think the ones that Big Al uses are from www.roosk.com. We have some of these and they're quite big and smooth = not so easy to lift so get yourself some tacky!!

I did log pressing last night but will prob give it a go again this weekend so will try and film it and put it up, will prob be all 4 of us there, defo me and greg anyway.

by the way mate, tried to register to your forum to spy on your training logs, but it keeps saying how the riot code is not correct (defo put the right number).

Tacky is a must!

Cheers for the the heads up Joni, thought there might be something up, had a mate install a new script as we were getting a ridiculous amount of spam and bots on the forum, looks like he went too far and stoped everyone from joining Confused Will try and get it sorted asap!

Have any of you been to Markinch before? I was there on Sunday to watch the SSM Quals, s**t its the coldest place iv ever been, and that was inside the place!! Tell your guys to bring plenty of layers for inbetween events!!

A few of us have been up a handful of times. I watched the SSM qualifiers last year, and got so f**king cold I was ill for days Happy It feel like about -35 degrees! I will have about 8 layers, a scarf, and two hats on.
