Maybe try some stuff with bands to add tension at the top. Or do partial ROM presses in a power rack. Or just get f**king strong all over the lift and the top end will increase accordingly.

SPEED and More work on triceps esp floor presses or overhead lock outs in a rack.

Solid advice. I don't reckon overhead (or anything really) needs broken down and analysed too much. Lockout will just come as triceps/shoulders strengthen.

It's a bit off topic but I actually used the log press to help with my bench press lockout as I found the log great for the triceps!

IMO you need to overload the top portion of the lift, so either add bands or chains to the log, or reduce the range of motion to get used to locking out heavier weights overhead using either seated or standing lockouts in the rack.

Board presses and log bench press will probably help too, but not as much as the overhead lockouts.

Also if you can suspend your log from the ceiling with chains, or set it on top of something to set the log around the top of your forehead, you could simply do lockouts standing with the log using supramaximal weight.

Good luck (not that you need itGrin )

It refers to a load that is in excess of your max for the regular range of movement. So for example, if I was doing a heavy set of bench lock outs, that would be with a supramaximal load because the weight would exceed my 1RM on the bench.
