I've kept a log over at myprotein for quite a while but after a recommendation and having visited this site on a few occassions before I thought it was time to get involved. Hopefully with your input and a little elbow grease I can be better and stronger.

Im gonna try not to bore you with details too much but here are the cliff notes of the last few months:

- Started Fullbody 5/3/1 in October, stupidly managed to hurt my back in the deload week.

- A few false starts later and learning a few things I changed the program, ramped up the squatting and dropped heavy deadlifting (for the moment.)

- Been training at a health club style gym but moving to Bridge Road Barbell in Camberley from Monday.

- Training 3 day fullbody program with a body weight workout on my off days (not intense though) mostly just pull ups, push ups, squats and ab wheel with foam rolling and stretching. Usually do 1 sprint session a week on saturday mornings but also Hike Sundays and throw some random hill sprints in.

- Gonna be working with the owner of bridge road barbell to develop some new programming so dont know what it'll be like when I start there.

Lets get cracking

Monday

Squats - High bar- 147.5kg - 5 triples - Strong, Only last rep was a little dodgy.

Press - Strict - 72.5kg - 5,4,4 - used to be 4RM so getting better, had one in the tank on the first set.

Rack pull - Double over grip, beltless - 160kg - 10 singles - learnt how to get more out of my grip, felt good.

Hanging Leg raises - 5,4,4,4 - probably hardest exercise this session, real tough!

Overall - Good session, pretty happy with it all

Tuesday

Day off as I had a sports massage, was beaten up alot!

Wednesday

Felt Crap all day, Zero energy, no drive, sinuses blocked up - should not have days off!!

- Hammered the Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Magnesium, Garlic extract and did an ear rinse with 3% hydrogen peroxide and gargled with it too....not 100% better as ears still a little funny but much much better today

kirkynick said:welcome mate! What's your goal, strongman or powerlifting or just general strength training?

Cheers fella,

Well I did a little strongman comp last year, UK:SPS as a light weight (under 75kg) and won so generally I like competing. Have been tempted by powerlifting but I've got to reclaim my deadlift and learn to bench properly lol.

I used to have access to alot of strongman gear before I went to this health club gym, but since then its been very limited so I've stuck with the barbell lifts so i guess really thats what my goals are at the moment.

If I wanted to put some numbers on it:

100kg Strict Press (currently @ 85kg but did 82.5kg for 15 singles last week so hopefully its higher)
180kg Deep High bar Squat
200-210kg Parallel Low bar Squat
227.5kg Deadlift

I will review everything when I start at the new gym and see how we're going to play it.

Good to see you made it over here I think you'll find it a lot more helpful to your goals than myprotein Wink

Easier for me to keep an eye on your progress now

Squats - High bar - 130kg - 10 triples
As expected a bit tight in the hips and bar felt heavy to start. Got some work in though.

Press - Strict - 65kg - 10 triples
Probably could have had more out of this today but didnt need to, lats were tight so overhead position wasnt great, stretched them out which helped a bit.

Row - Cable - medium handle - tempo lift /w pause at top - 60kg 10,9,9
Amazing how much tougher this is than using a little momentum....back fried.

Overall

Not bad considering how ropey I was feeling yesterday, hopefully back to full strength soon, but dont think my next proper lifting day will be till Monday

Not sure what is wrong with my immune system at the moment. I haven't felt right since last weeks sports massage, sinus issues, blocked nose, neck aches and last night I got woken up several times by stomach ache

Im really being put through the wringer at the moment.

I did some aerials practice with my girlfriend on Friday night. I managed to do some pull ups and went on a hike with some sprints on sunday but thats been about the sum total of physical activity......it sucks, havent felt this beaten down in a very long time.

So I was pretty much recovered yesterday after the stomach bug so I went up Bridge Road Barbell for my first session. Just a bit of a tester more than anything

Squat - High Bar, Deep - Worked up to 155kg for a single

Was expecting a lot worse! extended my warm up some what and didnt push for reps but was happy.

Press - Barbell, Strict - Worked up to 80kg for a single

Different rack position and have to step out further than im used to as to avoid the pull up bars, was okay, just needs some getting used to.

Pull - Deadlift, Trap Bar - Worked up to 215kg for a single

Never used a trap bar before 205 felt easy think I slacked a little on the 215kg so my lower back cracked a little. Think I just need to build it up.

Row - Kroc, DB - 45kg - 19,17 (L) ??,17 (R)

Couldnt find the balance on my right to start with so did about 19 or so but with dropping the DB a few times.

Overall

Nice little tester back, shouldnt have done the 215kg trap bar but not to worry. Gonna do a few random sessions to round out the week and start back with the programming next week.

Went up for a little chat about programming for starting monday....ended up doing a couple of little bits.

Squat - Safety Squat Bar - 140kg x 1, 100kg x 10
Never used this bar before, felt alright, think I got more quad than normal. I assume the bar is 20kg, could be heavier though.

Pull - KB Snatch - 32kg KB for triples on each arm
Did some pull ups in between each set, didnt count sets. Wanted to go heavier, but the next size up is the 60kg!

Overall
Just kept it ticking over. Will train Friday but wont be intense as I think me and missus have a private dance lesson.....will be in trouble if I wipe myself out before that!

A few strong sessions recently. Safety bar squats are awesome, my back has got much stronger sionce I started doing them. The way they try and tip you forward at the bottomn is scary at first but you get useed to it.

Dont know about that Happy just happy to be back training regularly and feeling better...looking forward to some proper programming next week.

SSB was cetainly different, think I ended up using my quads more than I normally do to stay upright, good for quads not so great for squatting.
