Simon & Mark would have brought a lot too the competition, but Hixxy, Ben France, Ben Kersley & Bish (to name but 4) are 4 of the very best guys in the UK at the mo'...no matter who is present

Hixx will hit the world stage one day IMO

your totally right mate but i cant lie i would have place clegg and simon top 4
but plenty of great atheltes still ready to come to scotland and leave with the title

wales, ireland and scotland will be represented well, looking forward to seeing how this all pans out these are so many guys i have not seen in the flesh

I love Clegg.....but those events (especially shield & frame) probably suit the like of Ben, Bish, Hixxy etc more IMO

Ben K & Hixxy (woods apart) are the 2 standout guys at 105 at the mo' IMO

from what i hear your calling that one right, but i think we might have a shock or two, mike and frank are pretty handy guys and home turf might cause them to raise their game and i thought adam bish look very handy at JT's comp

I dont think this comp is as cut and dry as ppl are making. In my opinion you cant call any of the events.

This adds to the excitement and think everything is to play for.

Okay,time is marching on so i'm gonna make a ruling on this-at this years Britain's strongest man 105s there will be NO belt cleans allowed on the axle press or the log.I know this won't please everyone but i think this is the way the wind is blowing on this issue.Given that the people qualified have already proven their ability and strength i do not think it is beyond any of them to have the necessary technique to clean the axle either continental style or straight to shoulder.Furthermore,the top strength judges,refs and organisers are all in attendance at the Arnolds and if they deem belt cleans to be illegal then who am i to disagree?
The whole reason for me bringing this issue up in the first place is because i do not know what the common practice has been throughout the rest of the Uk and i didn't want people turning up disgruntled on the day ill informed.
No belt cleans worked out fine at the Scottish,it was easy to call and with Andy on the mike the crowd too will know exactly what is happening.
Thank you to everyone who took part in this debate on this and the other thread,many well thought out cases were raised for and against.I'm sure the issue will come up again in the future,but as far as this year's BSM 105s is concerned there are NO belt cleans.
