Dave284 said:As people have said, if 531 has worked so well for you, stick to it. Pulling reps has helped my DL no end. If you need to judge where you re at, then pull a heavier set. 190 x 10 gave me a 245 at a comp when I first did it.

Thanks Dave, it is good to hear that. I think i am getting impatient because it takes such a long time to produce low rep result. Time for me to stop whining, lol.

190kx10 = sore back, in fact for me any sort of deads =sore back!

Sore back from deadlifts is an occupational hazard Ed. I am amazed at guys who can deadlift twice a week.

Sounds like you need to stop thinking and just get on with it mate. You seem to have plenty of evidence that you are stronger and none that you arent.

Now would I expect you to go from 190x10 to a haevy max single one workout to the next? No, but if you tapered the reps down over a period of time you'll be considerably stronger than you were before.

Stick with it mate.

190x10 when you pb is 210.. good going. Stick at it I say. Eventually the load will increase and you'll do lower reps. Your certanly in a nice position to turn the reps into pb's. All it will need is a small cycle to get accustomed to the lower reps and job done.

Spot on. Maybe 195 for 8, next sesh, then 200 for 6, then 205 for 4, doubles with 210, then next time explore 1RM. Or something like that...

Maybe if you're worried about speed then you could work in some speed pulls (from the floor or blocks) on the squat day? E.g. 8 sets of 3 reps as fast as possible with 50% of your max.

I'd think about reseting your maxes on the 531, that way on your 1 week you will be pulling a heavy double or maybe only a single
