Just to let everyone know who is interested I came joint 4th in this comp
Silver dollar deadlift 380kg(pb) (pulled somthing in my shoulder on this lift, think I would have got 400kg but oh well, it hampered me in some events) came 2nd
Viking Press 100kg(for reps)got 12 reps (pb) i think, finished mid table
Farmers medley (75, 95, 120kg all for 25m) think I came 2nd or 3rd not sure of timebut was another pb
Super Yoke (260kg for 25 meters) came 2nd, did it in about 8.5 seconds (pb)
Medley (80kg tree stump, 3 flips of 350kg tyre & 300kg+drag) came mid table couldnt budge the drag
Atlas Stones (for reps) think I did 9 reps with the 120kg stone (pb), not sure where I finished in this event was too busy getting tape & tacky off etc plus was really tired.
Overall was very happy with the days performance and cant wait for my next strongman comp

First of all i would like to thank everyone who competed yesterday!! everyone gave it 100%. Johns deadlift was very impresive and i think he would have pulled the 400kg as he looked very comfortable in all of his lifts. the stand out performances for me were the 3 young lads that competed, The 2 lads that came down from the olympic gym put in an epic performance considering there body weight and george from the basement. Ironworx rich is another one for us to look out for as he is thinking of dropping to 105kg. for his first comp he looked impresive. i could go on all day as i was amazed with everyones effort. Well done to you all

Thanks mate, as you said I think everyone did really well and gave 100%. It was a good day and everything ran smoothly, it was a great competition

another top comp by the basement realy enjoy this 1 it was a real test and all the guys gave there all. im well happy with my place though i know i could have done better in the stones but pull somthing and now cant straighten my right thumb(luckly im a south paw)but it no excusse imo. simon's reffing was spot on. and the ironworx crew (as did all the guys) did awsome

What were the final placings? Have to agree that I thought Simon did a sterling job with the fairest and most consistent judging that I have seen in a competition to date.
Some cracking individual performances from what I saw while I was there - saying that, there are several lads who should never again be seen in the novices....!
Really good improvement from some, including John Strange, Dan and Grant from PSMA. Gutted to not be able to finish, but well pleased with my performance until I had to pull out (4 pbs in 3 events!!).

Thanks mate, im not sure where he finished, think around 10th or 11th and he did well on each of his events, getting pbs on most if not all I think

in novice comps, pbs is what its all about! Placing is just random, depending who turns up on the day

I just re-read this.... How can a 380kg dead, 100kgx12 overhead press, 9 reps on a 120kg stone and 260 superyoke in under 9 seconds come joint fourth in a NOVICE comp.... May have to review who we consider novices lads!!
John, you should be well proud of yourself mate - thats an outstanding day...Was very impressed with your determination throughout
FYI there are some pics on photobucket - see SDF for the link - all the deadlifts are on there.
