Member 4008, 161 posts SQ 195, BP 150, DL 235580.0 kgs @ 104kgs UnEq | Why is everybody rambling about how Ed can't compete with Shaw/Thor/Z, the comp isn't over yet? The guy has just came joint first in the last two out of three events. Had he not have done as bad in the first event he would be possibly winning. One bad event can't label him unable to contend with the best. He has a good chance of winning both stones and truck pull tomorrow too.

Because as much as we want him to win he isn't going to win two events and do well in the other tomorrow. Realistically the best he'll get in the pull is 3rd. He might pull something out on stones but even if he wins stones Shaw and Thor will be 2nd/3rd. Looking forward to what happens tomorrow.

You'd expect him to have huge aerobic fitness as an ex-swimmer. I can't imagine what 500kg or reps like the circus bar today do to a persons cns. It really looks to disagree with Ed when you compare Thor next to him. I hope he's not asking too much of his body at the expense of his future.

Even if he did win both, he's likely to place low on the throw I completely agree don't get me wrong - he should drop three or four stone and hammer his fitness. And I mean really hammer his fitness and not just half-arse it like he has been doing in his training videos. But the point is that at the moment people are talking as if he is nowhere near the top guys and so far in this comp he's had two first places. One bad (very bad) event has ruined his chances but that's just bad luck. I would tend to agree about the throw - all the Brits, let's be honest, are notoriously bad at it. It's all ifs and buts and predictions at the moment though, we will see tomorrow.

Member 5141, 4186 posts SQ 300, BP 180, DL 350830.0 kgs @ 130kgs UnEq | But he isnt near the best. Thats not a reflection on Ed, but the fact is the top two are light years ahead of the rest of the pack. Third or fourth best in the world is great, but the idea that Ed is a challenger to the title is ludicrous, how are some people still not seeing that? Thor on barbell was amazing. Power clean and strict press with that weight on a wobbly bar is one of the most impressive displays ive seen in a while.

Walk your talk Member 5, 25555 posts Administrator | a good 'really big' one will always beat a good 'big' one .... eddie just isn't big enough in this era of the giant strongman his 500kg strongman deadlift will be remembered but all the other titles don't really mean much , its all about WSM and Christmas telly !!

It's a moonface era now. Member 5901, 956 posts | someone wrote the level is much better now than 3-4 years ago? just to remind u 2010 157 axle in the heats wich is much harder than this year final overhead no Jenkins, Lalas, Radz, Poundstone (who was in shape of his life), Hollands was in great deadliftin shape, great on frame, yoke and truck pull i say the last two years the quality is down except top 3 so if Hall finished 3rd or 4th dont forget there 3 guys who dont compete and will probably beat him on everything except deadlift
