Preaching to the converted mate. Whilst I agree with everything you posted I'm not sure how much I agree with the above. If it does turn out to be pretty accurate then the world population has the problem of dealing with it, and as the population boom has to some degree been fuelled by recent food production and storage methods this could be a very complex issue.

I think that high carb diets being blamed for the current crisis is a long way from being globally accepted though. People just aren't ready to consider the possibility.

Sugar is not a poison

Excess consumption of some sugars is certanly not 'healthy'.

Agreed. Whilst there may be valid reasons that some people would benefit from cutting back sugar comments claiming sugar is poisonous are just silly. Excess water is far more deadly than excess sugar (a triathlete died a couple of weeks ago from drink too much during an Ironman), but just like sugar it doesn't mean it's poisonous and needs to be avoided.

Reading this convinced me its a poison.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/news/11707396/Sugary-drinks...

"It said 133,000 deaths from diabetes, 45,000 deaths from cardiovascular disease and 6,450 deaths from cancer were caused by fizzy drinks, fruit drinks, energy drinks and sweetened ice teas in 2010."
^^^^^^
It's a poison.

"Deaths: Diabetes remains the 7th leading cause of death in the United States in 2010, with 69,071 death certificates listing it as the underlying cause of death, and a total of 234,051 death certificates listing diabetes as an underlying or contributing cause of death."

A consumption of sugar related disease is the 7th biggest killer in America. As young people consume more sugar in their diet this will rise in the future. If consuming water was that bad it would be above diabities/sugar right?

People don't wake up in the morning , consume too much sugar and die that day. They can with water.

Sugars are not poisonous at reasonable amounts and can be perfectly healthy in the right quantities. Some of the longest lived people on earth eat a very high carb (with many simple sugars) diet. Refine, processed sugars are a different thing entirely.
