not stating facts. Member 3100, 502 posts	Very biased competition.. An event change at the last minute by the organiser to the tyre flip which he then went onto win! All the events favoured tall guys and the scores didn't seem to add up properly at the end!

Strongman at this level is quite niche, the people who organize the competitions are often competitors themselves and will always face this type of criticism. I suppose if people aren't happy they don't have to compete or can even organize their own competitions. I've seen that Gary has been organizing competitions for years now and helping to promote the sport. The only thing I would like to see is a breakdown of the scores, I didn't attend and would like to see how people did.

Just cos your mate doesn't like tyre flip is not a valid reason to say all the events suit the tall guys! Even the stone was drawn between me and mick, opposite ends of the height spectrum.

not stating facts. Member 3100, 502 posts	It's got nothing to do with anyone's friends.. The events shouldn't be changed at the last minute especially to one of the organisers strong events! All the events favoured the organiser.. He even went out last on the first event so had an advantage there by knowing what he had to beat in the barrel run.. No good for the sport to be honest

Red Bull is banned in netball Member 799, 1484 posts	Plus the Viking press was so low I struggled to even get under it to pick it up!! Really suited the taller fella!! 18" deadlift is almost a stiff leg deadlift for me, just cos I won it doesn't mean it suited me, I was just the strongest at it on the day!

Red Bull is banned in netball Member 799, 1484 posts	I went half way through and I won the keg run!! The tyre was put in last min cos when they tested the sled pull they slipped on the floor. I would have preferred the drag tbh, hadn't touched a tyre since before UK's and I still came 2nd. Does that mean its biased or I'm just strong at tyre; I was in same boat as every other guy. Why do the comp or come support/watch a comp that think was biased long before comp day?

not stating facts. Member 3100, 502 posts	Yeah but it's still an obvious advantage to go out last, knowing what you have to beat.. People shouldn't compete in contests where they choose the events.. Why choose the tyre though? Could've chosen squat? Yoke? Wouldn't have won those events though! It's just no good for the sport..

Red Bull is banned in netball Member 799, 1484 posts	If you have a problem with Gaz's choice of events and his comp why didn't you speak to him at the comp? And to say it favoured the tall guys rather than just Gaz implies I somehow had some hand in organising it. I would have happily done yoke or squat, but my guess is Gaz had the tyre to hand and not a squat frame, etc. the tyre was a cardio exercise as was the keg; how would that favour the fat lads like me just cos I'm tall? Should I apologise for being fitter than others?

Cut toe in half = bad day. Member 4359, 3581 posts SQ 270, BP 140, DL 310 720.0 kgs @ 137kgs UnEq	Look at any big comps in the north mate, theyll all have similar events to this. You may so its a coincidence that the tallest strongman in england is in these comps but its just part and parcel of the sport.

thinner after lockdown Member 594, 4166 posts SQ 100, BP 80, DL 100 280.0 kgs @ 120kgs Eq	I was probably the shortest there after mick and I didn't feel it was geared much toward the taller guys except for stone for height.

It is stated clearly in my post that the way you phrased your original post it implied that it favoured the tall guys, rather than having a direct go at Gaz. The way that comes across is that the events were picked to suit both Gaz and myself. Which is bo***cks! I was clearing that up. If you can't see or understand that, that is fine, I maybe didn't phrase it well. But now you've insulted me, thats fine.
