Hi all

I've been training on and off the past 4 years, the last two years mostly off having been travelling the world and eventually ending up in Sweden where I've been since February.

Started back training at the start of march, my goals are to build up a good base level of strength which will allow me to get involved with strongman 105 and be capable of completing most of the events.

My current one rep maxes are: 227.5kg DL, 162.5kg SQ, 135kg BP. height 6ft 0 BW 99kg

I've got a long way to go, but gains have been coming fast since I started back 12-13 weeks ago.

Travelling is certainly fun but not great for strength!

Welcome, good luck.

Last session

Flat bench press
bar x 20
60kg x 6
80kg x 3
100kg x 2
117.5kg x 6
130kg x 1
135kg 2 x 1
130kg x 2
100kg x 12

Decided to have a little play with 1 arm dumbell floor to overhead. Worked upto 50kg on singles which felt fairly comfortable. then did 40kg x 8, lungs were fu**ed, I know I'll have to vastly improve my fitness also in my quest for strongman greatness Cool

Today I'm gonna attempt 230kg deadlift Happy

Thanks for the warm welcome, travelling was the best experience of my life, it was a tough decision to leave the weights and lose all my gains that I'd worked so hard for. Looking back it was without a doubt the right decision.

However I'm now very glad to be back lifting and ready to settle down and focus on this and my career.

Todays session

Deadlifts
bar x 10
60kg x 6
100kg x 6
140kg x 3
180kg x 2
210kg
230kg - pb, it wasn't so hard.
235kg - pb, harder but still a little left in the tank I should be good for 240 in a few weeks.

WG chins
+22.5kg x 4
+25kg x 4
+20kg x 5

Bent over rows
60kg x 6
80kg x 6
90kg x 6
Not done these in a long time so just feeling the weight. I used to do this palms facing away, so decided to switch to double overhand and bring my back angle down further.

Seated cable rows
stack 2 x 6

100kg x 4
120kg x 3
140kg x 1
147.5kg 2 x 6

glute ham raises
17.5 kg assistance

Bench
1 x 10 bar
1 x 5 60kg
1 x 3 80kg
1 x 2 100kg
1 x 6 117.5kg
1 x 5 120kg
1 x 3 125kg

Incline dumbell bench
1 x 6 50kg
2 x 10 45kg

front squat
Not done these in a while, they tend to aggravate my left knee. I'm now trying a slightly wider stance and low weight to see if it's any better.

1 x 6 bar
1 x 3 50kg
1 x 3 80kg
2 x 3 90kg

no problems so far Happy

I think the fairly rapid gains thus far have been from efforts from inside the kitchen and being a self employed web developer giving me great flexibility for eating and resting.

Last time I was training was in Australia, I was lifting a few kgs more, but bodyweight was close to 90kg and working on a farm 7 days a week meant I was constantly tired.

So with the increased bodyweight and lots of rest I should in the coming months exceed my lifts attained there.

pretty easy 1rm I think 170+ is possible if I had a spotter. I'm not gonna go too heavy and risk failing with no spotter or cage.

Cheers Buddy Happy

I've finally got myself some Creatine and chalk which seemed a bit of a nightmare to source out here in Sweden.
So goodbye to straps, and last time I got fairly good gains in my lifts from creatine so I am expecting a similar result this time around. Happy

Good squatting mate. I hear 165 is the place to be at Wink

What made you settle down in Sweden anyway?
