i wanna lose some fat, main prob is obviously i dont wanna lose any strengh or stop my self gaining strengh in these earlyish days, thing is for my weight of (15stone 2), my strength is s**t. and ive put about a stone on since ive stoped running and focused on strngth (was 14st 4 and gaining strength then). tho my knee is still screwed.

what exercise can i do to lose a stone or two of fat without having major issues on my strength. i know everyones goin to say f**k the loseing fat, but i just wanna get rid of some Tongue

LOW CARB DAYS WHEN NOT TAINING AND HIGH ARB DAYS WHEN YOU ARE TRAINING, LONG BRISK WALKS, SWIMING, INCREASE THE REPS IN YOUR TRAINING 10 TO 15 WILL GET THE HEARTS PUMPING.
WHAT I HAVE STARTED TO DO IS TO KEEP MY FOOD AS IS AND INCREASE THE CARDIO WHERE I DO 50M UPHILL SPRINTS 5 TO 6 TIMES, ALSO MEDLEYS.

THERE IS ONE OTHER THING YOU COULD TRY AND THIS IS CONDITION TRAINING WHERE YOU WILL NEED A LIGHT SLIDGE HAMMER, A OLD LORRY TYRE AND A OLD KEG FILLED WITH WATER OR SAND. IF YOU CAN HIT THE TYRE WITH THE HAMMER (LIKE YOU WHERE PUTTING IN FENCE POSTS) DO THIS 10 TIMES THEN JUMP IN AND OUT OF THE TYRE 6 TO 10 TIMES AND THEN LIFT THE KEG AND DO 50 METERE WITH THE KEG. AND THIS WOULD BE ONE CIRCUIT

YOU CAN TRY THIS AS YOURS STILL WORKING WITH WEIGHTS AND YOU'LL ALSO FIND THAT YOUR CORE STRENGTH WILL IMPROVE HELPING YOU BIG THREE LIFTS

very interesting. will try that

i need to get some physio on my knee, so wont be able to do sprints for a bit still, nor jumping. a guy used to tell me he did 50mins of walking uphill a day on treadmill, tho he wasnt a strongman was a pro bodybuilder.

yeah i never cut carbs on non training day, ill do that aswell. cheers

YOU COULD STILL TRY THE SLEDGE HAMMER SIDE AS THAT IS A GOOD WAY TO GET THE HEART RATE UP

i dont know what your trainign or diet is like and ye i am a bit bias towards certain training templates but give this a shot

MONDAY - Max-effort Upper Body then high intensity "cardio". I would suggest weight training for 40 - 50 minutes then doing some high intensity "cardio" such as Prowler sprints, interval treadmill sprints or sprints outside with incomplete recovery, jump rope intervals, etc.

TUESDAY - Low intensity cardio - walking, riding a bike, etc. You can do some high rep abs on this day as well.

WEDNESDAY - Max-effort Lower Body strength

THURSDAY - Same as Tuesday

FRIDAY - Repetition Upper Body then high intensity "cardio" (same concept as Monday)

SATURDAY - Off or same workout as Tuesday & Thursday

Sunday - Off

get idet sorted it is key tbh i would drop much below below maintenace 150-250cals a day. and about dropping your carbs down tbh the only cabrs i would be dropping on non-workout days are your post rokout ones, keep all the others... for me that is a 120grams of carbs i wouldnt be having so it is significant. btw wha is your diet looking like,

the high intesntiry cadio can very very easily be the curuit thing talked about. keep the high intesnity stuff to less than 15min....

keep on some creo, take stimulants before training such as caffiene and l-tyrosine (look at maximuscle's viper tabs).

I'm looking to lose some flab too, without losing any strength.

I drink far too much alcohol during the week, so I'm just gonna cut back on all those empty calories. I'm also going to slowly start working some fasted cardio into my mornings; twice a week at first, then gradually increase it over time.

I'll start playing around with carbs after a few weeks, to see how the drop in alcohol and couple of treadmill sessions are working out.

No idea if any of that helps you or not!

haha wouldn't we all like to lose fat and get strong at the same time Grin it's not going to happen, you'd need some special supplements to come close to pulling it off Wink

'A stone or two of flab' is a lot of weight to lose, especially if you're going to do it all once. You won't just be able to cut flab, you'll lose some muscle as well - so you would be looking at losing best part of three stone to lose two stone of fat.

The more weight you lose at once the more strength you will lose, that's why it's best not to get too fat at once if you plan on staying anything remotely lean. Losing upto 5 kilos in a go is fine, but much more than that and it starts hitting hard - in my experience anyway!

I've done it before, mate. My diet was so ridiculously bad that when I finally got it (partially) sorted I dropped some flab and my lifts went up. It was a bit like beginner's gains I suppose, because what I was eating in the first place was 100% utter s**t.

I've let it slip again and I'm hoping knocking the empty calories on the head can shift a few lbs with no affect on strength. I'm not talking about losing 10kgs or anything like that!

if your looking a immeadiate effect with the weight loss then you will lose strength, but if you lose around 2lb a week and no more then the longer you take to lose the required amount then your strength levels should not be effected also try drinking more water though the day as if you don;t you body will retain water to keep itself hydrated.
