Cus of the hours i work i only wind up getting about 5/6 hours sleep a night which is about half of what i like lol. I've heard of correct me if im wrong, zma's which help quality of sleep. Would these help me out and make me feel like i've had more sleep?

ZMA (specifically the magnesium) improves sleep for a lot of people, although it does give you weird dreams.

You can take magnesium on its own too.

yes mate, but other more important things for quality of sleep include:

sheer darkness
no electronic stuff being on (even on stand by etc)
no noise
insulin levels

But yea to answer your question, ZMA helps a ton.

I would have thought your quality of sleep would be better if you slept less. When I sleep over 8 hours a night the quality of sleep drops off drastically.

I've come to find it affects me much more mentally than physically, and that if I overcome the mental aspect, I can still perform just as well physically. Almost ironically, allowing yourself to accept that you'll just have a s**t night but will still perform just fine the next day will help you sleep better. I try to tell myself as long as I'm lying here still with my eyes shut, then I'm resting just as much as I do when I sleep, then with some luck you'll be a lot more relaxed with this new mental approach and might just drift off anyway.

I am in the same boat myself with my new job and I now get about five hours a night. I feel realy tired at work but cant get to sleep because I panick looking at the clock because I cant nod off. I can go to bed in good time and then lay awake for two hours getting more and more pissed off as I know I am loosing sleep. I feel tired all day at work and then train at home before bed which is fatal as it wakes me up, I should train early in the morning before work. Basicaly take heart that there are others in s**t jobs having the same problems, some poor buggers have a fit bird keeping them awake all night as well - life sucks !

When i worked a load of nights and hardly slept ZMA worked a treat. I made some of the best gains of my life in the gym on just 4-5 hours kip a day!

I havent had over 5-6 hours sleep in about 4 years other than a nice weekend lie in, im a terrible sleeper most week days id be happy with 4-5, your body just adjusts to it eventually. Theres been times when ive had 2 hours sleep then had an awesoem gym sesion the next day. ZMA worksM makes me fall into a deeper sleep and have incredible somtimes scary dreams.. the most common ones for me, were spiders crawling all over me the size of a hand and someone trying to break into my flat, both oF them i eneded up in the living room with my cover round me thinkiNG, fuk im such a pussy.

funny you mention that granty, I noticed I became a paranoid mess at night when taking ZMA. I'd just bought a really expensive guitar and dreamt the same night that someone was on his way over to break into my flat to steal it (and nothing else), so in my dream I decided the most sensible thing to do would be go and bring the guitar into the bedroom and put it beside my bed. Later on in the dream I started to panic again that it still wasn't safe, and anyway I woke up the next morning with the guitar next to me IN BED wondering what the f**k went on last night, and what the f**k was going through my mind that made me actually get up out of bed TWICE to do this!

ZMA - deeper better quality of sleep? my ass! sleep walking is not fun, what if I had a dream my flat was on fire and decided i should jump out of the window down 4 floors!? f**k that!

I take magneseum manf calcium tablets everyday because I have been getting treatment for my back with cortisone injections, but recently I have added zinc in to my vitimin and miniral intake and have noticed a difference in my sleep for the better so IMO the combination of zinc and magnesium is what works for me. So I think I'll get some of this zma

Often compressing your sleep, i.e. sleeping fewer hours can increase the quality of your sleep. When I sleep 10-12 hours a day the quality is poor and I don't get into deep sleep, sleeping 5-6 hours per night could be an advantage.

only getting 5 hours a night any time i sit down and stop i feel like falling asleep, i need at least 8 hrs sleep, every1's different. Defo gonna try these zma's tho.
