ok, so i went thru all my squats etc today and realised i hadnt filmed anythin!! bit pist off as things felt very nice today, lower back holdin up incely.. must be the bit of stretchin ive been doin.. :-)

anyway, here it is

back squats-
110x3
130x3
150x3
160x3
170x3
180x2 -- very happy with these today, very slow and controlled and parallel!!!
140x12 - think i actually could have got 15 out on these but was feelin 'whinded' rather than fatigued..

front squats-
90x3
110x3
130x3
150x2
90x12*2

finished with a couple of sets of lunges for a good stretch and burn and some planks for the old abs..
good session.. as i said, felt really good today.. body feels pretty solid today, no stiffness or aching :-)

cheers fellas..
was happy with the squats today, but it is highlghting that squats are indeed my weakness.. i think a lot down to flexibility issues which makes gettin low and onto my heels pretty hard ( i end up foldin forward a fair bit sometimes unless i have a fairly wide(r) stance) so this will be worked on.. i want 200k soon!! thats the next goal anyway.. and to start deadlifting consistently again..

today- overhead work

push press-
70x5
80x5
90x3
100x3
110x1
115x1 -- fairly comfortable, but not as comfortable as i would have liked seein i have strict pressed 110 before..

strict press-
80x8
90x5*2

seated DB press-
44x8
44x10 ??

finished with some lateral raise stuff

dont normally do as much pressin, especially over 3 exercises. but no training partner today.
from now on im gonna be hittin push press first instead of strict press, so it will be-
PP
strict press
CGBP

anyone have any advice for push presses?? i cant quite nail the technique in the push, dont seem to be gettin much drive from it hence why im only PP'in slightly more than i can strict press.
also, anyone have any ideas for an overhead gym medley? im gonna try throw one in every 2 wks or so.. gym doesnt have strongman stuff so a mix of DB and BB stuff, various exercises would be good..

cheers

Nice session Mr_M.

When it comes to push press i always try to dip slightly with my legs then drive up and then push the bar up. The bar should fly up with the momentum from your legs. I maybe wrong but im glad to be corrected - watch loads of videos on youtube to see how other people do it.

If your gym has more than one barbell and enough room then you could do a medley something like this:

DB Snatch
BB Clean & Press
BB Clean & Press (Heavier weight than the first bar)

cheers mate..
yeh i dip and drive but dont seem t be able to drive much thru the bar and get all that much extra into the bar before the press..
yeh was thinkin of BB clean and press, heavy DB snatch, then heavy push press from the rack...maybe like 3 rounds at the start after a warm up.. hen maybe just some PP's after it..?

Yeah mate - i would do the medley first because that will be quite taxing then do for some push press/ strict press or power cleans after that. Your choice.Grin

yeh probably go with
warm up of a few cleans, pressing then,

medley of C+P - DB snatch - Heavy push press for a few rounds..
followed by my normal P.Press sets and then some CGBP

today's session shall be summed up in 1 word- PROMISING!

deads-
130x3, 150x3, 170x2, 190x1, 200x1, 210x1 -- all went up pretty easy too, there was definately a 220 in me which would have equalled my PB the last time i deadlifted over 3 yrs ago.. so im happy with that.. touch wood my back feels fine and flexibility wasnt much of an issue today.. :-)

chins-
+10k x10*3
pulldowns-
97x15

BB rows-
90x10
100kx10*2

BB shrugs-
110kx10
110kx 20 mixed grip, switched hands after ten (pronated/supinated)

finished with a few sets of Db curls and a high rep EZ curl set.

good session today.. felt good, and felt great to start deadlifting again!
with speciall attention paid to my flexibility issues and some consistency in doin th deads, i think i'll be up and past my old PB in no time and soldiering on thru to 250 within a few months!! well thats the plan anyway! :-)

cheers fella..
yeh was v happy..
have struggled since i was about 16 with back problems and flexibility issues in my hams/ calves etc, tightening the lower back up as a result!
so t get back into them after over 3 yrs off is definately a good thing..
PB of 220 was over 3 yr ago now, so definately lookin to improve on that over the next few weeks hopefully..
