No spotters or paramedics or notice that we were to do this event until we turned up. when i asked why there were no spotters I was told the TV production thought it would not look good for spotters to be there. I draw the line when the event promoter puts TV before athlete safety and effectively pulled out of a very badly organised competition." wtf is happening over there? | ||

Franco Columbo sued WSM for a reported million dollars. there are always disclaimers to sign. but, if you put on a dangerous event without any safety precautions and someone gets hurt I dont think theyd be worth much in court. | ||

Simon was in the last pairing, he was looking forward to it as he has done it before and feeling confident. We were watching from the other side of the car... it started going over then suddenly back down and Simon was screaming in pain... everyone ran over but he wasn't trapped... I don't know if the car came down onto his knee or if his leg went under the strain and he fell back... anyway, I think he detached his patella and his wife said he will be requiring surgery... lets all wish the big guy a speedy recovery. The paramedics were on the scene in about 5 minutes... I don't know about spotters for the event, I think it would be difficult to do. I had never done a car roll before. After Simon's incident a few people said they had concerns when I did it as it started coming back on me at one point but because it was such an unknown I was very aggressive and got under it and got it going again, so I guess I was lucky... its obviously not something you stop and think about at the time. | ||

Events are subject to change in any strongman contest in the World !!! Simon Flint unfortunately blew out his knee on the lift in the car roll !!! This was not due to equipment or spotter failure !!! This is an extreme sport and injuries do happen !!! We all know that and most of us have had their fair share of it !!!
