The GBPF NW bench contest is coming up on September 28th at Intershape in Colne. This is a great contest for first timers which could be useful preparation for the NW powerlifting champs at the end of Nov.
You can opt to lift either unequipped or equipped, this contest will be a qualifier for the British bench championships held usually Jan/Feb. As usual guests and first timers are welcome, contact bevans5088@aol.com

I'll be there too. Maybe lifting, maybe helping, but certainly getting in the way.

In case I wasn't clear, Bryn, I'm actually going to lift Happy.

Chris: best advice is get to a club and train once with competitive lifters so you know the score re commands etc. Are you near Adlington? (Bolton-Preston area.) And, obviously, make sure you've joined the GBPF, have the proper clothes, etc.

For bench press competitions, do you have to wear a singlet, or can you wear tshirt and track suite bottoms, sorry if sounds a stupid question but very new to this.

Cheers chris

You do have to wear a singlet.
You do have to wear a T shirt. Which must be either plain or have an approved sponser's name on it. For example SBD, Titan, Inzer
If you wear wrist wraps you must unloop the thumb loop when lifting or it may be counted as padding and the lift failed.
A belt is optional

And remember

The loaders are there to help and they will do, so you must be clear in your instructions.
"One two three go" when you want it lifting off and "my bar" when you have it under control are simple enough but you would be amazed just how many lifters think the loaders can read their minds. They can't. Help them to help you.
