Why on gods earth do people actually put themselves through that? It's just convinced me that I'll never do any form of equipped powerlifting, bloody suits must be ten times worse....
Squatting with knee wraps is the gayest thing I've done all year

I felt the same the first time I tried them a couple of years ago but I started using them this year as my knees were in constant pain... and it has helped a great deal... so you may feel differently in ten years time! Wink

f**k me boys, there a tad uncomfortbale if a little tight, but surely worth it for an extra 2-3 reps?

yea ... as i lifted equipped i find wraps quite tame , its far far from my event tho ... i have to concentrate to get depth , I can nail it but its all to easy to snap back up an inch too soon , will be a wicked event tho , looking forward to competitve squatting again

What was actually wrong with wearing them?

Obviously they are a little uncomfortable, but they through me off balance a couple of times which then takes a load of energy to correct.

I've no doubt it's all down to having no experience of using the bloody things, but with the fact that they do smart a bit - I can't see me wanting to get used to them.

I know you say it's worth more reps JC but i really hate the idea of using something that helps me lift, i lift because i enjoy it and because i want to be good. I would rather get 10 knowing it was all me than 12 thinking that the wraps helped me, just how i feel and wont change that s**t even if it was 210 for reps!!!

I'd just train my arse off so i could eat 210 instead of thinking "I'll just use wraps!!!"

That's what's so much fun, sin't it?

I said to myself when that event was announced that i wanted double figures, and i trained so i can get that.. I didn't go out and buy wraps to help me!!!! THATS WHAT I LIKE, no disrepsect to anyone who is EQ'd just my feelings!!!!!!!!

really ?

that could be the difference between 1st and 2nd overall !!

I know what you guys are saying about wraps , yes it isnt pure raw squatting , i train raw and obviously its a much purer test of strength , but if straps were available for the deadlift ...BOSH ..

wraps are just a different part of lifting and during a comp you godda take all the help you can get

note: i still think you will all squat really really well without wraps and ultimatley it wont have any baring on the result of the squat or the competition as a whole

So you can eat 210, but someone else who can also eat 210 but wears knee wraps will beat you at the competition because you are being stubborn about using something that you can to increase your lifting, you don't get MAN POINTS for coming last Grin

It's not about man points smalls, if i came last and did my best i wouldn't give to s**ts.

It's how i like to train and what i do it for. .. I felt bad for continental cleaning the axel at the qualifer but as i only decided to enter a week before i didn't have time to train to learn to get it up without assistance. If i had 8 weeks i would rather of not done it mate..

f**king right I will be! And a super suit (for sexual reasons)! And... Elbow sleeves to help the forward camera hold.

To be honest, I can't see the problem with being equipped when it's in the rules. I can see the point if knee wraps are going to prevent someone getting squat depth, but if not and you're going to get more reps, then it seems silly not to. Not that I'm calling anyone 'silly'. That would be terribly rude of me and you all know what you're doing.

f**k!! I'm excited about this! Can't imagine what it must be like to be competing! I'd have had a heart attack by now.

Good luck all, especially the northerners and and doubly especially that nice Mr Boar! Hope everyone has a top day.

What's your view on using tacky on the stones? Or straps being allowed on some strongman deadlift events?
