Not overly warm but very muggy.

Strangest thing was Turner asking me if I was growing a beard. As I have been bearded for the last twenty years or more I consider that particularly odd.

I occasionally pop in here and enjoy reading this log. I've found a good fun daily game. Give it a go

Worse than it looks as the two "Y"s of the second entry were the same as the first, I had tried to be Billy smart bo***cks and went for it after the first, this was made all the more annoying when the usual second entry gave me the initial letter. Floundered for a good while and dredged up from the bowels of memory an obscure Japanese beastie which was also wrong but seriously help with positions. Horrible, but I survived and limp along

On the radio this morning was an adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes story "The Norwood Builder". In it Watson mentions "the Tiger of San Pedro" a moniker for a rum character in a different story.

For the life of me I could not remember the title of it. I could remember the basic story, and the names of the main character and the official detective involved, but not the title.

I asked ChatGPT and it informed me that it was "The Veiled Lodger", except it isn't. I went the old fashioned route and checked the titles in my SH omnibus and once I saw it I remembered it immediately. I also checked the name of the main character.

I asked again and this time it assured me it was "The Adventure of the three Garridebs" and it isn't that either, so I asked "are you sure it isn't "Wisteria Lodge?" which it is.

It told me that I was absolutely right and that it had mis-spoke earlier, it gave me a correct synopsis of the story and thanked me for the correction.

So if you fancy a wheeze, ask it "Which Sherlock Holmes short story features John Scott Eccles?" and await developments.

It'll pass the time and it would be interesting to see if it now gets it right. After all, it has been assured by a man who knowsGrin
