I'm looking tentatively for a first comp, and this might be a possibility in terms of getting to the uk. Any opinions on how suitablr this would e as a first comp?
I looked on the englishpowerlifting site and if I understood correctly (which is far from a given), there is no qualification standard, just a limited number of places.

I think it would be as suitable as you could get for a first comp.

No qualification needed, just membership of the GBPF.

cheers titch, malc. I'm quite keen and it is when I'm on holiday. Just a question of cost probably. I'm having a look at easy jet and car hire now and it looks reasonable; if I can keep the whole thing at 200 euros give or take, it could be a winner.

I'm going to have a bash at this. How do I actually register to enter and who with?

I sent my GBPF form + cheque off to John Jackson last week. I've heard nothing back yet and there's no email address or phone number so that I can check it's arrived OK.

Just to clarify, for those that are asking.

The All england event has no qualifying standards, however the event can be used to obtain the required standards for the next GBPF British championships.
To enter you need to be a member of an English region of the GBPF, the GBPF being a tested federation and all entrants have to be available for testing on the day.
There is nothing that I am aware of stopping BDFPF members joining the GBPF and lifting in both federations competitions (somebody correct me if this is wrong).
There wil be seperate events for equipped (Saturday) and un-equipped (Sunday) lifting. If you are feeling up to it there is nothing to stop you lifting in both events.
All age and weight categories are being accomodated.
There will be a maximum of 50 entries accepted for each day.
I hope this helps.

York Fitness have confirmed today that they will be in attendance for the event. They are also going to be donating kit (weights etc) that we can raffle off over the event weekend to raise funds for English Powerlifting.

I've also had confirmation that the Do-Win guy will be there offering good deals on their reduced prices on their shoes.

We've also secured the services of a good physio for the weekend.

If anyone is interested in taking a stand to promote their services or products please let me know.
