» Deadlift training with Straps, yes or no ? (Go to post)11-05-2010 @ 13:00
Not a fan of using straps - partially as I don't need them on a regular bar/farmers or whatever but mainly as I can't be fussed with being down in that positon to apply the straps.

Lee also doesn't use straps in training, infact i think the only time we ever bother with them is if there is an injury, if doing very heavy DB rows or very heavy shrugs - all our partial pulls and regular deadlifts are done without straps.

I pull over 700lbs, and Lee over 800lbs - doesn't seem to have held us back any

Not quite 140 though lol, and had a carrear of explosive speed etc under his belt while he gradually put on timber, and even then he wasn't 'fat' as such.
Plus comparing an international athelete to compare to a guy wanthing to have a go for fun is, well, quite frankly ridiculous.

Which is fair enough, it will likely be on the line, probably offensive line - unfortunatly this basically involves blocking and not much 'hitting'

If you really want to nail people play some Rugby leauge.

To be fair training in a any of these sports will help you loose some blubber so crack on and enjoy it

A bit harsh IMO. You can be fat, and at the same time be quick and athletic!
Tuigamala (sp) in his later league days certainly was

Inga was hardly fat

May sound harsh but also very true, linebackers pick holes in the offensive line to sack qbs or block HB runs. If your 140 and only explosive enough to lift what he does his body speed is unlikely to be rapid enogh to cope.

Linebackers are much more svelt

unfortunatly in AF unless you are a razy exception to the norm your bodytype defines wher you will play moreso than many other sports

Your not going to be a linebacker being that fat, LBs are usually pretty quick and athletic.

Your more likely to be a lineman at your weight - which is going to be extremely boring.

Gawd daymn!!! 400kgs deadlifts are few and far - but done that easily and for reps is the sort of thing you can cound the atheletes who can do it on one hand.

Truley pheniminal lifting Shaun, given the level of commitment, technical work and hard graft that goes into weightlifting these are great achivements.

I don't think Mick is, he is about the same height as me and I am certainly not 6'3.

Loz possibly?

It would make far more sense if they stopped being idiots and recruited guys aroud the 6ft mark and just made them appear a little taller on screen, you will get far more heavily built guys around that mark.
