Thought i'd start a journal on Sugden Barbell as there is alot of knowledge here, and it would be good to get input from a strength training site's membersI train for strength, and dont mind extra size either
I play rugby (prop), however the season has ended until september so all rugby training is CV based
All my 1 rep max's are on the league
My CV excercise will go up once ive finished college as i will have more time, i've only got 2 week left
Any questions please ask

Training on monday went like this
bit of a deload week ready for my new training cycle
bench 100kg 8,5 , 85kg,10
incline DB 35kg, 5,5
Push ups, 25,18,15
im gonna keep doing pushups at the end of the session as they seem to form a very important part of rugby circuit training so i will do them at the end of a session for max reps

very impressive lifts sivvy if your scrummaging ,line out work ,ball carrying and rucking and mauling are as strong as your gymn lifts you should be looking to play at the highest level! what are your goals as far as rugby are concerned?

well, to be as good as i can to be honest, no point wondering what if
im off to UWE Bristol in september to start a degree in mechanical engineering so will be playing rugby there, and i will go to clifton rfc, whihc is a national 3 club, hopefully i will make the first team whilst i'm still at uni which will give me a good bit of experience, obviously the westcountry is a hotbed of rugby, so if i get a name for myself at uni or at clifton or wherever, who knows what might happen
also in bristol i will be able to train at empire sports, which will be nice
Deadlifts today, but i'm having a light week ready for my training cycle so will rep with 160 i think or i might do 180kg, but for only 3 reps, i'm not sure hmmm, i'll post it up later

hoping you can tell me, got a vid stance was slightly narrower, looked up more, kept back strong so leg drive was driving the weight up rather than just my hefty ass which leads me having to shift the weight using my back, well these are what i was trying to do
however, lockouts were quite weak, dont know whats wrong with them to be honest, must be back weakness, and they were touch and go, i mix it between touch and go and dead stop, but i make sure i dont bounce the weight
180kg x5 is a pb, as i've never done it before, however if i can deadlift 220, i think 180 for 5 was well within me, and it was

from the vid, I can see that you are using your back and not your glutes to lockout, and push your hips through, this might be due to weak glutes or technique. this is a good dealift article to check out - http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=586815 - the dude breaks it down for you - read the part - Problem #3: Weak at your Lockout...it might help.
happy pulling!
