Brian Shaw Wins World Strongest Man 2013 Title

American man-mountain Brian Shaw today reclaimed the World's Strongest Man title, beating last years winner Zydrunas Savickas into second place and Thor Bjørnson into third.
Shaw pulled a 445kg deadlift to take full points in the first event, before following up with fourth place in the overhead medley and second place in the atlas stones to finish the competition with a 3 point lead over Savickas.
British competitor Terry Hollands, who had started the day one point behind Shaw in second place, injured his back badly on the first event of the day, the max deadlift. He was unable to compete properly after this and unfortunately slipped down the placings.
Whilst Shaw was arguably the favourite going into the event, it is rumoured that he took a large quantity of food with him (figures vary from 90lbs to 90kgs) which could have helped him avoid the stomach and digestion problems that many of the other athletes reportedly suffered with the local food, hinting that preparation as well as his undoubted strength could have contributed to the victory.
