Hey guys. I am new to this forum. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am 17 years old, 183cm and 83kg.I have been training for almost a year (6 months of which were at a local gym, now I train in my small garage gym). Up until the last month or so I did a bodybuilding style routine - UNTIL I came across powerlifting and strongman.I got really interested in powerlifting. I did alot of research into their methods of training and found it pretty exciting. I even ordered myself Westside Barbell's "SQUAT, DEADLIFT and BENCH manual" haha.

My routine is whatever I make it. Trial and error I guess. The main goal for the next few months is to gain some serious strength in compound movements which is something that my old bodybuilding, 4 day split didn't offer. If I see some good results, hell I might even fancy competing Wink. I plan on logging my progress each training day and see where it goes from there.
Well this is where my journey starts. Wink

PRs:
Squat - 150kg
DL - 155kg
Bench - 85kg (2 reps)
Strict OH Press - 70kg

Really wanted the 90kg bench today as I totally crashed it last week.

Warmup: Band stretches, Rotators & plastic roller

Chest:
Bench 75x5, 80x2, 80x2, 85x1, 90xF
DB Bench 30x8, 32.5x7, 35x4, 30x7
DB Flys 12.5x14, 15x12, 17.5x10, 20x8

Triceps:
Close Grip Bench 50x10, 55x8, 55x8
DB Ex 15x12, 17.5x12, 20x10, 20x10 + Drop Set
3 sets of rope pushdowns

the 90kg miss was so frustrating. I had it 1/2 way to lockout for about 2 full seconds. 10 times closer than last week though. Also the Overhead DB Extensions were 1 DB in 2 hands behind head sitting down.

NEXT WEEK:
Try and nail that 90kg bench and get myself a new PR.

Felt Pretty Strong so decided to go for a quick Deadlift session.

Warmup: Plastic roller, stiff leg DB deadlifts

Deadlifts 100x3, 120x2, 130x2, 140x2, 150x1, 155x1 PR
GMs 60x8, 70x6, 80x4, 90x3
Abs (weighted SUs) 15x15, 10x20, 10x15 + DS, 5x20

Was planning on 160kg pull but didnt fancy my chances - took the 155kg
and ran. Also need to buy more olympic plates. 150kg is all I have. had to tie
2 2.5kg plates on each side to make the 155kg hahaha - still a 5kg PR. Goodmornings is
something I need to work on. 90kg felt Extremely Heavy.

NEXT WEEK: Hope to pull 160kg

Good luck with it all fella.

I'm not a powerlifter so might be completely wrong, but my understanding is that Westside works very well for equipped, multi-ply, super-wide stance squatting type p/lifters.

It might be worth taking everything Louie Simmons says with a pinch of salt.

That said, I'm not a p/lifter, so could be talking out of my arse!!! Grin

Good to see another new powerlifter on here. Good for you for ordering that book its a fantastic read. He is probably the best expert on powerlifing so you'll learn a lot from it.

Just remember it doesn't matter what program you follow as long as it works for you. Test new things out but main thing is just work hard and be patient as you will see the results.

Hit shoulders today. Started off working up to a heavy single which I didnt manage to get 'strict' so did it push press style.

Up to 1RM on OH Press:
50x4, 50x4, 60x3, 65x2, 70xF, 75x1 (push press)

Higher Vol OH Press:
50x10, 50x7, 55x5, 40x10

DB Side Laterals:
10x18, 12.5x14, 15x10

Bent Over DB Flys:
12.5x16, 12.5x16, 15x13 (SS with band pull-aparts)

Upright Row:
40x12, 40x10, 40x8

Shrugs: 25x100, 25x100, 20x100 (SS with 20kg DB Shrugs)

Hit DE Squats. Lower back was still tight from previous session so missed the speed pulls.

Calf Raises
70x20x3

Box Squats
95x2x10 (with mini Bands)

DB Lunges
20x20, 25x16, 27.5x12

Leg Extensions
3 sets + Drop Set for last

Leg Curls
3 sets + Drop Set for last

Pretty decent workout. I like to do calf raises first to allow for more ankle flexability during squating. These were done on a 3-4" high block with 35kg dumbbells in each hand.

Felt pretty strong today. Had a strong coffee then headed to the garage.
Warmup: Roller, shoulder dislocates & band stretches

Bench:
60x3
60x3
75x5
80x5 PR
85x2
90x1 PR
95xF

DB Bench:
30x8
32.5x10 PR
35x4
30x8

OH DB Extensions:
22.5x10
25x10
27.5x8
30x4
20x10

Was really happy with 90. it felt pretty easy so I went for 95 but only got it about 2-3 inches off my chest.
