"One moment while I get my man tits out my kit bag".

I had a quick go in my mates this evening (Titan super katana or something?) and did 300kg x 2 and not a clue what I'm doing with it. My post is a question to the equipped benchers...
Why!??!?

I have no clue why anyone would go through the effort of wrestling a bit of clothing on, to show people how much the equipment can lift. Look forwards to the hearing from those that bat for the otherside (purely a reference to equipped lifting ....)

Chicks love it....

I have to say i dont miss putting that bas***d shirt on.

I do miss the panic of what the bar was going to do and the challange if tryinf to wrestle the bar down to touch.

If your first attempt was an easy 300 double then why not go take the british record to add to the mantle piece!

They are pretty horrible inventions, when I trained at adlington , everyone was shoehorning themselves into the things (including myself) their popularity has plummeted !

rejoice

I remember when I first started training and started posting on powerlifting uk , i think my bench max was 100k and I new nothing about equipped unequipped and had never heard of a bench shirt, i was reading through peoples journals thinking holy f**k everybody benches 200kg plus , it was quite demoralising!

Don't think of it as bench pressing, think of it as mastering a piece of equipment to enable you to do more. Think of it as similar but different.

A high jumper can jump 8 feet but a pole vaulter can clear 18. They are similar, but different.

The man who jumps the highest is the best high jumper, the best pole vaulter is just that, the best at pole vaulting, he isn't a poor high jumper who just happens to be better at handling a pole.

It's all down to attitude but strangely many people tend to look askance at equipped lifting. Not sure why.

That's a great analogy!

Pete for the win.

I find equipped bench much more fun. I feel that it's more technical, higher risk, more adrenaline and more tactical in competition.

It is quite a lot of effort getting in and out of the shirts, but all part of the fun Grin
